Color of hardware with typhoon bordeaux and copper sink

Middle of long remodel. Good thing about this is have had many long hours to reflect. Have chosen Typhoon bordeaux granite for countertops. Perimeter cabs are creamy white and island is cinnabar with copper farmhouse sink. Flooring is oak in whiskey color. Pendants are antique brass Hinkley plantation as well as chandy over table. Trying to coordinate with family room done in Ethan Allen British classics entertainment unit and desk. Thinking of copper pulls for perimeter with glass knobs for hutch and antique brass for island. Maybe black knobs and pulls for perimeter and brass for island....sooo many choices...soo many decisions. Help!

Sorry. New to the forum. Just learned how to post! Working on posting photos next. Really would appreciate some thoughts on the hardware combinations.

I know this isn't one of the choices you offered, but have you thought about crystal knobs? I think they would look great with all of your other materials. They are timeless. If you are set on your two choices, I would go with the nickel. I think it would pick up on the colors in your granite nicely. I have oil rubbed bronze knobs in my kitchen and although I do like them (I think it's been 4-5 yrs now), I think bronze may be on its way out, design fashion wise (sorry to all of you oil rubbed bronze fans, myself included!)

Wow thanks so much!!! I am really stumped on this and only have one shot at it since I can't do my usual routine of repainting something I hate, : / So I am off to check out these colors. I am pretty sure my mom's has a lot of the red in it. She lives two states away from me so I have to get it right the first time. I'll be driving up 8 hours and taking some other accessories along. I will post pictures tonight after I get home from work. I glanced at the counters this morning, and the caulk was drying clear but the thicker caulk was not clear yet. We used caulk in the bathroom recently that went on white and dried clear. There were parts of the dried caulk where it looked like you could see the rough edges through the caulk. I just have to look at it in more detail tonight. snookums - The granite fabricator is not the same company that is doing the floors. The floors were done by a sub through the GC. The granite fabricators were picked by the KD, and she's worked with them for several years. I am questioning her attention to detail as she said she had never really noticed before that granite could have chips in it like our island did. After I told her about ours she went home and discovered that she had them in the granite in her house and just never noticed. I am hoping that the wavy edge looks tolerable once the caulk is all dried. Some of the fabricators on GW seem to indicate that the wavy edges were normal and shouldn't be something I should complain about.

I decided against doing all glass mosaics because I think it would look too busy. The field tile would help with that, maybe. We have no objections to red (my husband loves that burgundy color, and every car we've bought in about 15 years has been red). The granite has some burgundy shades in it, but not a huge amount. No room for a display bowl or plate, unless it's doing a job like holding utensils or fruit, IMO -- everything on display has to have a function in this small kitchen. The long glass tiles don't really look purple in real life -- more like a dark brown, I think, although the camera "sees" purple. And totally agree about the yellowish small mosaics. Our granite doesn't have those yellows in it. The glass pencil rail is an interesting idea, too. Or the other pattern from BossaNova And I'm still thinking about just using the 6x6 field tiles with 2x2s for interest. Maybe using the 2x2s to form a design over the range -- with the rest of the backsplash just diagonal, maybe with a horizontal line of 2x2s about 1/3 of the way up. Or with the rest of the tile set straight but offset, maybe again with the 2x2 band. Thanks for all the great suggestions & ideas. Keep 'em coming!

Have you tried buying one of each you are considering and trying them out? IO like your first idea of the copper/glass and antique brass as each element would complement another part of your kitchen/design. Read the post about being new to GW. There are instructions for posting pictures. Pictures would definitely make it easier to give you an opinion. Good luck!

See below on how to post:

Posting a picture from your photo hosting account (e.g., PhotoBucket)
First, where are your pictures? If on your computer only, you'll need to upload them somewhere on the web for the rest of us to see them.

Open an account w/Picasa or other photo hosting site.

Take a picture using a digital camera (or film camera but get them on disk when they're developed)

Resize your pics so they're approx 400x300 (resize keeping the same proportions so they don't get distorted...i.e., don't specify a specific size, use %-ages or similar)

Upload your pictures to your photo account

Find the label that contains the link to the picture

(In PhotoBucket, it's the box labeled "HTML Code")
Copy that link and paste it into the "Message" box of a post.

When you "Preview" your message, you'll see the picture.

Posting a picture from somewhere other than your Photo hosting account:

Copy the following into the "Message" box where you want the picture to be:
{{gwi:1467847}}

Next, replace the http://www.XXX/image.jpg with the address of the image.

When you "preview" the message, you should see the picture
