EFC, OMG, just google counter stools and you will find enough sites online that you can browse from now till next Tuesday! You can even use the store's own search function to specify height, back, arm, look, materials..... During my last remodel I ordered a counter stool from Winnipeg, Manitoba, CA and footstools from Miami, FLA, USA on the same day. I had fun checking to see each day on the shipping company trackers where which item was, en-route. I believe Winnipeg won. It was like my own little parimutuel betting parlor.

I am in the middle of a whole house reno. I wanted to paint the kitchen cabinets and the attached crown gray, but the kitchen opens to the living room, which will have white box paneling and also white crown like the rest of the house. There is a corner where the two rooms meet (a recessed bar niche between the living/kitchen. I don't love the idea of two colors of painted crown meeting up, is there a good way to do this? Or does anyone have a picture of a similar situation? I have seen stained cabs/meeting with painted and that looks ok but two different paints seems like a bad idea. I can't seem to find any photos of this situation. Kitchen is the the right, bar niche to the left with the pretty white pipe running through it, living to the far left. (Dining is through the cased opening with window) My current thought is to do the bar area cab/crown white and extend the white over the tiny bit of wall between that and the kitchen. Then the gray kitchen cabs would start on that wall to the left of the wires. Thank you!

A gut job will mean the walls will have the baseboards removed. Excellent. Have the baseboards painted as you wish and installed AFTER the wood floors. Done and done. So long as you make a statement to the fact that you do not want quarter round or shoe moldings used and that any baseboards used will be PAINTED to your specifications and added AFTER the flooring, you are golden. No worries. Just make sure the painters know what is what (so they can make the proper bid) and you will be fine.

@brensmum, my room is 13'x15.5' I'm leaning towards having my curtains go only around the window (extending 12-18" past each side) rather than the whole room since the molding prevents the curtains from reaching the very edge of the wall (5" away) and also I think the off-centered window will look weird, creating an un-symetrical effect either in curtain width or spacing from the windows.
