Before I was successful in locating the individual ingredients for my own Gritty Mix version, I purchased bonsai mix from a large local garden center. It was ungodly expensive, though, for a very small bag. Another option may be purchasing small amounts of fir bark or a ready mixed orchid medium if there are any local orchid greenhouses/growers... and if the fir bark or mix they use is of small enough pieces. I don't require very large quantities of medium, so I buy small bags of a product called ReptiBark reptile bedding. It's very clean fir bark, though many people say the pieces are a bit too large. I think the small bags contain a decent enough size for my use... though I do notice that the larger bags contain larger pieces that are too big. I use perlite, which can be obtained almost anywhere garden supplies are sold. I prefer coarse perlite, but I'll use the regular stuff and simply sift it if I can't find the coarse stuff. I purchase granite chips at a farm supply store... around these parts, that's either Rural King or Farm & Fleet. The product is just granite chips, sold as grit for chickens/poultry, and it does require sifting or rinsing to remove dust. Turface is hard to come by for me... there's no local NAPA store, and I know one must be careful about other brands and types of oil dry/calcined clay... I omit it if I can't locate any, and I work with those items I can find. I find it extremely helpful to soak the fir bark in water overnight before using in a mix... so it doesn't become hydrophobic. Another good place to search for various medium ingredients would be Hydroponics type stores.

I had to go to San Antonio today and I figured on my way home I would stop here and just check if there were any JJ plumies left there. Honestly I didn't even have the heart (sense) to call and even though it was about a half hour each way out of my way I had to go check it out. Well boy am I glad I did!!! There were 5 JJ's plumies that I saw - 4 Premium White and...1 Divine!!! It was just sooooo meant to be! So for $49.99 plus tax, I got a 6 tip 3 or 4 inflo plant, 3ft from the soil line. Some of the flowers: It was also a perfectly snug fit in my tiny Sentra - sitting on the floor of the car it was brushing the roof inside. Only 2 little bits on an inflo were broken, not bad at all. I don't know if they had any plumies anyplace else, honeslty I didn't walk through the whole place even though it was really lovely. I walked up the path, just happened to notice a cluster of plumies sitting there, looked for just a few minutes and of course I knew I was getting the Divine. I paid and all said and done I was in and out of there in 10 minutes. kms2 you're right on, they sell mostly water garden stuff but it's very beautiful to walk through and if you're looking for a plumie you could always call them! online - I don't think I could make it with all the chickenscratches in a book game. McK had given up chemo for the time being. Then she went out and got a job at Target that starts at 2AM, and has been working it for 2 months. Amazing. The first MRI she had showed no growth. I heard a radio story about a drug that kills all types of cancer cells. Went to read about it. Since it is a very cheap, unpatented drug, there is no money for testing. I left my e-mail for updates.
