Im sorry you are having so much trouble with ur PC. May I ask how the sap got in your eye? It is true many plants are poisonous, prehaps as a survival technique thoughout evolution. Many plant lovers know this and use caution when handling plants and placing them in terms of pets and children. I have had a pencil cactus for two years now. It has grown beautifully and I couldnt imagine parting with it. Id rather be more careful in terms of handling. Best of luck!

hi there. knowing nothing about yucca trees, here is what i would do---i'd dig out a seedling and see how extensive the root system is. next, i would dig around another one, being careful to do so at the distance where i would not disturb the roots. the idea is so that the plant will not notice it has been moved at all. then plop it into an appropriately sized pot, soil and all. or, dig a hole in your yard and move it there--it's generally the same environment and presumably the same (or similar) soil. I have only ever done this to poppies which are notoriously sensitive to being uprooted and replanted. But as long as i dug around far and deep enough to avoid disturbing the roots, all of them transplanted successfully. i would have had a gorgeous bed of poppies. but they were no match for woodchucks who had a salad fiesta as soon as the flower buds appeared. Hmmph. if there are lots of seedlings, try and get the oldest one. maybe getting more than one is a good idea too, one of them is bound to take. they might have more specific information for you in the cactus and succulents forum, though! i hope this helps somewhat. It could also be a pest of some sort. I think mealy bugs are known to cause distortion of the leaves. If I were you, I would take it out of the pot and examine the roots and soil to be sure everythings ok. Just to be on the safe side, I would wash off soil and put new soil in it. Also, you can wash off the plant with some dish soap and water. (I put in a spray bottle and sprayed it down) Another way is to use alcohol with a q tip and wipe any mealies you may see off. If you don't see any pests, I would still change soil and spray down with dish soap just to be on the safe side. Make sure to use fast draining soil (i use cactus soil with perlite about 1/3 of it is perlite, maybe a little more) I'm no expert, this is just what I would do if it were my plant. I live in San Diego also, and have the same problem with mainly two roses (36 of Ingrid Bergman and one Janice Kellogg, and a few others). I have caught both GROUND SQUIRRELS(you know those cute baby ones!) and fruit rats in the act of decapitating fully opened roses, and also defoliating the shrub itself branch by branch, leaf by leaf. Very hungry rabbits will do this also after the spring green stuff dries up and before the next rainy season. Only two things have worked for me, and that is potting up the rose and placing it where there is no bridging stems or foliage-the rodents aforementioned cannot climb(a slippery smooth surface)or jump over approx. 12". I have also cut the bottoms out of +15 gal size nursery pots and inverted them over the plants-it works, not very attractive!! Several of my roses have a small (1" hexagonal chicken wire) cage over them ie Easy Going, Barbra Striesand, and The Mayflower-that works, but buds that stick out still sometimes get decapitated-next year bigger cages. The best thing that worked was a large cat, but this is San Diego, and coyotes really like cats better than rabbits, squirrels,and fruit rats-so, as much as I like the cat, and as well as that worked, I can't bring myself to getting another one just yet. If only I was able to build a tunnel of chicken wire, closed on both ends. I don't like to resort to poisons as our canyon has lots of active hawks and owls(but not enough). With the number of unpicked fruit in the neighborhood, the rats and squirrels are really multiplying. So until the fruit ripens, they will munch on what's available and tasty, and right now that is roses. By the way, raccoons or possums may have eaten your soap, and it just doen't work well for ground squirrels and rats. Jackie
