It's all your fault! LOL

I can't help myself now, after reading all these threads and following all these links, I am going to try making some soap for myself! I can't stand it anymore!!!

Now where do I start? I know how the process goes, I supposed I start with base, a FO and a mold of some sort. Then I can branch out into all the other stuff like additives, etc.

BTW, who has websites of their own? I've seen and ordered from Flutterbees (got them in the mail the other day, and they're WONDERFUL!!!). Who else has a site?

Thanks for the info and the quick response... I am hoping to choose the area today to put this earthmaster and get started. I will hit the store and get the hardware wire for the botton, and was thinking of bricks around the bottom edge of it (to hold it down and seal those bottem openings) to help prevent attraction to mice. I will avoid the moth balls - as much as they would help, I have small dogs and would not want them to get in contact with the moth balls. I will be careful to bury all food into the pile, and cover with browns to keep down the odor. Well on my way to composting...uh huh - my hubby said he's not going to let me come HERE anymore - I get "too many ideas" LOL. ** I do have ONE more question now about the "odor" of the food...buring the food items will prevent the odor...but won't it just start to smell (attract critters) once it gets stirred and the food is moved toward the sides? I am still a bit confused about how often to stir as some people seem to post "3 to 5 days, then others say "every couple weeks" and other don't seem to stir at all?? There sure is a lot to learn about this...I never thought it about how much there was to know!! Thanks again for all your input.

HELLO All I, am also new here, just decided recently to try growing some FIG Trees .I am reading the old forums and some other sites . I hope to soon acquire and experiment with a few fig cultivators that might be hardy in my area . zone/5/6 I'm in extreme southeast nebraska most maps list us as zone 5 but a many plants list for zone 6 do ok here. I want to start out over wintering my fig trees indoors but eventually want to try wrapping and heavily mulching a few in a sheltered area in the ground to over winter. PLEASE if any experienced Northern growers could recommend cultivators for me to try i would appreciate it. FEEL free to respond here or buy email . thanks

Lynn..it seems the more space we find..the more we fill it up!! Glad you came up with a solution to help you out..for now!! lol Besides my walk in attic space...I have a double wide Linen closet in the upstairs hall, and store table lines on one side, and use the other for guest linens and such. I also have a linen closet off my bedroom on the main floor, and use a couple of shelves to store table stuff in there too. It seems as soon as I find extra storage space..it fills up pretty fast! I do have a suggestion tho...In my guest room closet up stairs... which has double doors, on one side, I have made this my sewing/craft space. I actually fit a small computer table in there, and a stacking shelf unit to the side of it. On that table, I put my sewing machine, a clip on lamp... and on the shelves, in clear storage boxes, my sewing/craft supplies. I still have space on the other side, to hang clothes for guests. It's very convenient and all I do is close the closet doors when I'm not working in there, and the room always looks neat. This allows me to have a sewing/craft space that's 'out of sight' and works out well too. jane

Great thread, and Redroze, thank you for the dose of reality. I just reread your post to my husband. I am doing several things I have learned on here already, such as the single sink, and more drawers. Maybe even a range hood, only I really do not know where to put the microwave! I can't do many of the amazing things I see others posting. I appreciate the genius and beauty of the kitchens posted on here. And I need to remember to love the kitchen I do have while utilizing what affordable tips and tricks I can do. :-) This is an awesome site, and it is the many generous, awesome people who make it this way.

Oooooh hazel I can't wait :))))) I have all 3 of them open already! I think the watermelon is my favorite, but I love them all. I could just eat that watermelon one. lol.
Oh and I meant to tell you, those rosepetals and the holly leaves were great! Thank you for sending them :) They look so pretty in the soapdish.

omg, i second the "addicting" part! i just tallied up my internet purchases ONLY and just about keeled over. i was stunned at how quickly stuff added up!

well, i think i've gotten just about everything i wanted/needed so hopefully it'll slow down...please god.
