How much stevia in lip balm?

I want to make some lip balm. I know that I can use the same sorts of ingredients as I use for lotion bars, but I want to add stevia for sweetness. I have not used it before, so I don't know how much to add. (Assume 3 oz. batch of lip balm base.)

Sara, I see you use Brambleberry products. Did you check Teachsoap.com? It's Anne-Marie's companion site and has recipes on it.
I use her flavor oils straight up. I don't sweeten my lip balms at all.

Enjoy it. As far as it has been established, Stevia has no side effects and has many health benefits. It is mostly used for sugar substitute. I have grown it in the past 3, 4 years at small quantity. It is probably perennial in zone 7. It was in zone 7b, GA.

Stayng hydrated is a balancing act for me, I can't drink a lot between dialysis treatments. Docs have ordered me to dring less than 40 ounces of liquids a day, and that includes stuff like fruit,rice,jello, and of course beverages. If I go over, I put on too much "Water Weight", which is bad for my heart. . My sister the Pharmacist told me to use vaseline at night, any type of chapstick during the day. I have Burts Bees with real beeswax.

I was wondering the same thing. I want to make some lip balms, and I ordered two flavor oils. They are horrible. Smell great, but I tasted them (to see what they would taste like) and I nearly choked. They were awful. I wrote and asked and they said the smell "fools" you into thinking it has a flavor. I am not sure if I buy that. At any rate, I am not going to use them in my lip balms (if I ever get around to making them). I just can't bring myself to now that I know how awful and bitter they taste. I have purchased good tasting lip balm, and I am sure that my nose was not fooling me into thinking that it tasted good! I agree with morz8's DH. I usually have Blistex or Chapstick with me throughout the winter. I prefer the Blistex raspberry flavored version but I haven't seen it in the stores in years, partly because I haven't needed to shop for it in about a decade. At some point my wife had a short consulting gig with Wyeth at the ChapStick manufacturing plant in Richmond. In additional to paying her, they also gave her a bag containing about 50 different ChapSticks.

I know they usually sy "to taste" but the problem is that I don't know how much to start with- a gram , a teaspoon? A starting estimate would be very helpful.

according to Brambleberry, you use 1%. for a 3oz batch, that's .03 ounces. I don't work in measurements, only weights. So I'd have no idea if that was even a teaspoon measureable amount. My suggestion..a small pinch.
