I was wondering the same thing. I want to make some lip balms, and I ordered two flavor oils. They are horrible. Smell great, but I tasted them (to see what they would taste like) and I nearly choked. They were awful. I wrote and asked and they said the smell "fools" you into thinking it has a flavor. I am not sure if I buy that. At any rate, I am not going to use them in my lip balms (if I ever get around to making them). I just can't bring myself to now that I know how awful and bitter they taste. I have purchased good tasting lip balm, and I am sure that my nose was not fooling me into thinking that it tasted good! I have not tried the SoapCrafters flavor oils. I have tried the ones from the sage.com. Good results. Also, if one wants sweetened flavors, they sell one called Sugar Kisses. BTW, I suspect licking your lips too often is not good for them, but not because of digestive enzymes in saliva. The only digestive enzyme contained in saliva, digests starch.

I will be selling dried herbs at a local market this year and in past years, (at a different state) I also sold lip balms and herbal salves. I have called three different numbers to find out if I can sell these products at a kansas market and got conflicting info or was referred to a different authority, still do no know. Do those of you who sell these products have to get any special license? I know they are not food products, but lip balm comes very close to the mouth.thanks

Perhaps either Q tips or popsickle sticks could be used to remove a small amount of balm. You would be the one to remove the balm so no one takes a lot at once, and use/hand one per person. Q tips could be applied directly to lips, popsickle sticks could be applied by scooping with a finger from the stick, to the lips. Hope this helps-Good luck!
