Printer Ink for Scrapbooks?

I have an HP all in one printer, scanner, copier and wondered if anyone knows if the ink is safe to use in scrap booking. Thanks in advance.

Thank you for your interest in Hewlett-Packard products.

All of the ink used in our inkjet printers are acid free but are not
recommended for archival purposes. The reason for this is the ink is not
bonded to the paper during the printing process. A LaserJet is a better
solution for archiving because the toner is bonded to the paper in the
fusing assembly, so it will last as long as the print media lasts.

Well, it wasn't necessarily the cartridge. After many repeated paper jams, the thing died. STINKERS, I'm only half way thru the job. Now I have to pay to get the rest printed somewhere and then buy a new printer. DH ran out and luckily got the the ink store right before they were locking the door! So a new ink, no printer. What luck :( Thank goodness we have a little independant print shop right around the corner. I can run over tomorrow AM and print it out myself. Still, the entire venture has eaten all the profits of the job. GGG

I would advise you not to get one with all of those little cartridges. If one is low on ink, you can't print anything. I don't know which is best but I have always used HP and will continue to do so. When I bought my first one, years ago, I was told print heads can be a problem on printers. HP has theirs in the ink cartridge so you get a new one with every replacement. I don't use the printer much any more, so I set it to print in black only. It will print even if the color cartridge is low on ink. I just read your post again and you said ink jet. That may be different than what I have used. Mine have always been desk jet. This post was edited by EmmaR on Fri, Dec 21, 12 at 10:31

Which ink for stamping in scrapbooks?

IMHO Ancient Page is the best, it is permanent,(but water clean up), archival (acid free) dye based, comes in tons of colors. Available from Color Box. It comes in large and small stamp pads, also in the "pads" made to be used in the rolla-graph stamper wheels. I used to work in a stamping store and this is what we recommended for scrapbooking.
