I have two year old son and I purchased the Creating Keepsakes, "The Big Idea Book of Baby Memories". I think it was about $10-15 and was very worth it! There are hundreds of ideas and example layouts, quotes, etc. I just wish I had come across it when I was still pregnant!

Also, if you are a beginner, a good book that explains all the basics is Creating Keepsakes, "The Joy of Scrapbooking" It is about $20 though.

Another idea for learning the basics is to find a good scrapbook store. They usually have good classes and instructors that can get you started.

Our first is on the way also. I have done 3 books before but never for me! my sister said she saw a page where a lady took her sonogram pic and put a pic of the baby in her tummy after it was born. I am anxious to start mine also. have a healthy and happy pregnanacy. Karrie

My 2nd baby is on the way and hopefully I can spend as much time on her book as I did my 1st daughters (who now has 2 albums) Some page ideas: who came to visit in the hospital; baby's first bath... Creative Concepts has a couple of cute page idea books; all pictures, no text (except to detail supplies used)...Best of luck

Try not to get too caught up in and spend alot of money on "how to" books. Buy a few pairs of decorative scissors, some double stick tape, a book and pages, page protectors, colored paper, colored pens or markers and some memory book themed pages like Precious Moments or Pooh. Believe me, when you get started it will come to you. You'd be surprised what you can come up with with a few cute pictures, colored paper and colored pens. Use your imagination and write your own expressions. Use a baby book as a guide and for ideas. Include baby's first doctor visit, first outing, and when you bring baby home. I just had my first baby and started a book for our entire family. We want it to tell a story of our whole family. Make sure all your products are photo safe. Have fun and enjoy your little one! I am in the process of doing my son's album. He is two. I came across calendar pages. I used them for the first year so that I could document first's. I have receieved so many complements on them. Buy a baby calendar that you have esy access to so that you will not forget to write something down. My mom got me one and it was all stickers so that I never wrote anything just put up a sticker. Creating Keepsakes magazine has helped me a lot. They have a lot of layouts and there are a lot of concepts you can adapt to many applications.

Gracefulbee.com also has a ton of great ideas. I spent a whole lot of time there before I started my first album and got to the point where I said to myself, "Stop gathering all these ideas and tips- you have too much to choose from as it is! Quit it and get to the actual scrapbooking!" :)

I also spent a lot of time- several days, actually- on message boards like this one gathering ideas and info. Don't be afraid to directly email posters and ask for further details and clarification on a specific post, either. We all love to share. If we didn't, we wouldn't have posted in the first place! Besides, we've all been newbies at some point and got help from others and we'd all like to return the favor. Good luck and happy scrappin'!

Oh I forgot scraplink.com and dmarie.com. Both are great sites. Scraplink is only links to other websites, but there's literally hundreds of them. dMarie also has a very active message board and other parts of the site have a ton of info.
