Scrapbooking Fundraiser...wish me luck

This Saturday, I am having a scrapbooking fundraiser for my CM consultant. She has been fighting cancer for two years now. She was first diagnosed with lung cancer (no, she never smoked), had a 3rd child with Downs, and was recently diagnosed with 5 brain tumors. She has been having raditation everyday to reduce the tumors. As soon as I and two friends heard about the last bout, we decided to do the benefit. It is going to be an all day crop, lots of door prizes, lunch and drinks. So far we have 26 people coming, even though we really wished for more. We also have a few people making donations that are unable to come. We are charging all of them $25.00 to come to the crop. Wish me luck that all of these 26 do come. Happy Scrapbooking! Jewels

Too late to wish you success, but I do indeed hope it was a successful fundraiser. I think it was a wonderful idea. My prayers for that family and for you, an angel in disguise.

If you have many different mediums and a lot of pictures, an easy but great way to go is with a d-ring album (I recommend American Crafts and you can buy those at Hobby Lobby... watch for them at 50% off!) then purchase photo page inserts (either vertical or horizontal or both!) and then you don't have to scrapbook ALL of the photos... maybe just scrap a few of them and then all corresponding or similar photos can just be tucked into to the photo page sleeves (like a regular photo album). I did this with my "year in the life" album. I have 4x6 photo pages - both horizontal and vertical - intermixed with 12x12 scrapbook pages and even some 8 1/2x11 scrapbook pages just for fun! If you go with a D-ring album, ANY 3-hole page protector will be able to be easily inserted where ever you feel it needs to go! There should be PLENTY of room left over if your son wishes to add to it later. GOOD LUCK!

Thank you everyone! I'll be sure to check them out immediately. I actually found some stickers today at the toy store that were acid free and of G.I. Joe. I got 3 whole pages done so far, and we arn't even out of Haiti yet. I'm having a lot of fun with this scrapbook. And I realized I don't need a bunch of stickers and such, I made some dog tags out of paper, and am working on a parachutte...he was airborne. I'm having tons of fun!

Jewels, this forum is pretty slow these days. I'm so sorry to hear abour your friend. I guess I was hoping for a miracle but that wasn't the plan I guess. May she rest in peace, and her family find the strength to go on.... Good Luck if you decide to take over the business!

Should have added this before go to this website Diynet.com This is the Do It yourself cable network that is owned also by the folks that have the Home and Garden station Put in the address above. Look to the left when you get to the site. Put in the rectagular search box the word scrapbooking and then click on the large arrow that points to the rectangular box to find numerous projects and articles that you can click on to find out about scrapbooking. This information comes from a show on DIY everyweek that is about Scrapbooks! It realy was a great success. We had 30 people attend the crop. We collected $1,000.00 in admission and some donations. We went to my CM's house and picked up all of her supplies to sell and she sold $1,600.00 dollars that day. Wow!!! She has been selling CM for 5 years and this was the third time she has sold over $1,000.00. We took her her $1,000 last week and she was so overwhelmed. We are now thinking about doing this fundraiser yearly. Jewels
