Software for scanner

Does anyone know which software does the "stitching" when you scan a 12x12 page. DH is getting me a scanner for Christmas and we are trying to do some homework on what we need. Already, I have to upgrade to Win 98 and add more RAM, nothing is ever easy :)

I believe I am getting a scanner also. However, I am not sure how to use my scanner at all for scrapbooking. What are you going to do? Thanks -

I plan on using it to scan items from my late Mom&Dad and In-Laws instead of putting them in the albums. I saw this done up in one of the magazines and it looked really great. They used watches, locks of hair, glasses, documents, even an old heirloom plate scanned beautifully. It's going to take me some time to complete this because I have my side and my husbands side of the family and lots of pictures (B&W) and some of them are in the original cardboard type frames which are unique in themselves so I don't want to attempt to remove the picture and wreck it. Also, I wanted to make copies of the albums for my 2 brother-in-laws. I'm sure there is tons more you can do with the scanner but I was told to get software that has the 'stitching' function so you can do 12x12 pages that's why I posted this message to find out about the software. Again, thanks for your reply. I'm sorry, I am not very computer literate, so therefore I approach these things very cautiously. When I got this scanner, to replace my original, (which, at the time, was about 10 years old) I just followed the instructions on the disc. Sorry, I don't know what multiple control options are. I guess everyone, nowadays, because of government regs., has to put in the scare notices. (It seems, with some asthma medicines, you have a greater chance of dieing from it if you take the meds, than if you don't.) I'll try uninstalling, and reinstalling, in the morning,

It is interesting Pooh. Based on your post I downloaded and ran the program. At the moment this is still a BETA program, in other words it is being tested by those of us who elect to use it. Once all the kinks are worked out the final product will be available no doubt. On my computer it searched all 3 hard drive partitions and found 10 insecure programs and 4 end of life. However those tagged as end of life will not be removed, these are old programs I use and will continue to take the small risk they might pose. The live link to the right of each entry takes you to the needed update site for that particular program. It is one more program running in the background. Time wil tell if it stays on my computer but it is an interesting program

I realize that this posting is two years old, but I wanted to share my input/advice/experience for anyone else who happens to be shopping for a flatbed scanner! The Canon CanoScan LiDE 210 is the best photo and document scanner I've ever used. It bought it on sale from Newegg.com for $90 about 18 months ago and I love it. It's thin and light enough to fit in my laptop bag with my 14" laptop AND it is powered by the USB connection that it uses to transfer data. It's awesome.
