I have a pond about 40 feet in diamiter over the past 25 plus years, I have tried about everything to keep out the Herons, Kingfishers, snakes, mustrats, and of course dont forget the snapping turtles! An electric fence around the pond works for Herons once, then they just fly into the pond and not walk in. the motion sensor water scarers work during warm months. But the best over all, is the net with small holes or they will put there head through the net and get the small Koi.

I don't post here a lot, but I do on the Canadian forums. I lurk here :-) I don't grow a lot of tomato varieties but I do grow for quality. This year I have one plant, grown form a seed of the original Gordon Graham tomato. He has the world's record largest tomato according to the Guinness Book of World Records. Through good fortune and a friend, I was able to trade for just a few seeds from Gordon Graham's world record tomato. I got one to germinate, so I have one tomato plant that is a direct child of his original! I do grow other tomatoes but I'm really excited about this one! We had a very bad tomato year last year with lots of BER. This year I planted the tomatoes in my good lasagne "wine" garden, dug in lots of old manure, a little lime and one Tums tablet in each hole. The same friend who gave me the seeds above, told me that a Tums will help supply the calcium the tomatoes need to help prevent BER. So I'm trying it. It's easy and cheap, so I figured "Why not?" We'll see how it goes. Needless to say, I baby that plant! In addition to that one, I am also growing our own heritage Portugal beefheart tomatoes (see link to pic below), San Marzano, Manitoba, Ailsa Craig, and Rev Morrow long keeper. I like to use them on cards as an embellishment or to fasten two layers of paper together (like if you had 2 punched flowers and wanted to use an eyelet in the middle as your flower center and layer the flowers together). They are also nice if you want to hang something heavier like beads & charms from a card, the eyelet will keep your paper from tearing. You need a small 1/8 hole punch to punch your holes in the card & you need an eyelet setting tool which is kinda like a fat nail. Then you just slip the eyelet thru your punched hole, turn your project over and lay it on a firm surface. I use a ceramic tile with a piece of t-shirt material laid over it to keep the eyelet from getting the paint scratched off. Then put the tip of your setter in the hole on the back of the eyelet and give it 2 or 3 firm wacks with a hammer. This will flatten the back out. That's it- easy peasy! There are more expensive types of setters that work like a stapler but they are not really necessary.

Ive pondered this a couple days and Im with slow. I also think painting the plastic might make it look tacky. Does it have to be oval? Consider using mdf as a base and using molding and trim strips to form the frame around the mosaic. Also-does that masonite have any flex to it? if it does its not suitable for your mosaic.
