Sure I will take some pictures. You might laugh for it is a rather weird looking contraption. The last week or so it has been around 100 degrees here in Iowa City. I went away for three days and got back to see that everything inside survived. A little dry but I guess if the plants could survive the hottest weather I have seen in Iowa for three days without water my cooling system works. So what I ended up doing was: Bought a very light cloth at Wal-Mart...about three yards and hung it at the very top of the greenhouse. It is the lightest cloth I could find. A green see-through type cloth. I also cut a hole near the bottom of the greenhouse about the size of my hand. (Where I attached a mister) Then I have a bigger hole higher up on the other side with a big box fan blowing out the air. I keep it on a medium setting but put it on high when it�s really warm. It sucks the air out of the greenhouse very well. The vinyl of the entire greenhouse is actually sucked in tightly when switched on. I planted a type of grape that has gone up to the top of the roof so I plan to take the cloth away seeing that it makes sufficient shade. I also planted some moonflower seeds which are creeping like crazy. They seem to like the thin metal chains I got at Menards. Snapdragons are growing very well inside. I found about 30 dead Japanese beetles inside. I figured they died like flies at a window in about a day, not being able to get out. Since then I have not seen any, probably came out of the soil. I planted out all the vegetables and other flowers I had inside but plan on planting seeds as soon as I do some more research. Louis

I don't think it would stand much chance in an unheated garage in zone 5, they can't go below freezing. You don't need to keep in light, if you have an out of the way place in your basement, like a closet that would work fine.

I followed instructions found somewhere in this topic last year to fertilize seedlings once a week with very diluted liquid fish fertilizer. I think it was one tsp per gallon of water instead of the normal one tablespoon. I put a general granular vegetable fertilizer in the planting hole when they are transplanted outdoors into the ground (so I'm planting where something else grew last year). I have added maybe an inch of composted cow or horse manure to the bed. The transplants get full strength fish fertilizer after I water them in. They might get a second dose a week later but that's it on fertilizing. Since I grew about 30 different kinds of peppers, there are some I will not grow again because they weren't productive compared to a different variety 18 inches away. If I weren't so negligent about fertilizing during the growing season, those poor producing types would probably end up getting too much fertilizer thinking it was needed.

Yes, you can save a lot by doing the work yourself. Probably 50%. I'm not a big vinyl fan. We are in the process now of replacing a hose full of a national brand vinyl window that have warped and buckled from heat. The windows were replaced once under the manufacturers warranty 5 years ago, and now we are tearing them out and going back with a different product. Water is the biggest enemy of wood, any you live where it never rains. Go with a light color fiberglass window with low-e or some brand of solar-E. I'm not a fan of applied films. It voids the warranty of every window I know of. The film manufacturer will pick up the warranty, that creates another pain in the @$$ to deal with. its not difficult to replace windows. The internet is loaded with videos and instructions. The most important thing is to order the right size. IF you size it correctly is a piece of cake.
