Dear Crys, I am not sure about spraying the mist directly on the photos, I would be afraid to do that. As for the other items, you can get an acid testing pen that will tell you if the item is indeed acidic or not and needs to be sprayed. If it is then I would spray it on both sides if it was a REALLY important item like a wedding license, or birth cert. but otherwise I probably would only spray one side, unless it was actually touching one of my photos, since the paper should buffer the item on the other side... I am not sure what the directions on the can say, so it might be best to check that out too. Penny

Boxerpups: I have seen your granite in your other posts and love it. It looks very similar to mine. I don't understand why I would be having these problems. Last night I did an experiment on an extra piece they left me. I left a wet glass as well as an oily bottle on it. This morning the place where the glass was is fine, but the oil has soaked in and made a dark stain. Don't know if it will fade over time. I did read on other sites that certain granites should never be sealed and that perhaps the marks people see are actually the sealer reacting to the substance. These sites recommend removing all the sealer and leaving the stone completely unsealed. I really need to figure this out as I cook a lot and think it will be a nightmare to maintain this stone if I have to worry about all kinds of substances possibly marring it.

We went the whole 'enhancer' route. I think its acts as a sealer as well. I read one of the gals (i think boxerpup) did it and really liked her results. It looks awesome. We got the DuPont StonePro tec...or something like that. As for oil spots - not had that issue yet, and we've been cooking with them for about a month now.

We are considering jet mist but have a small kitchen and wonder if we should go with white quartz to keep it light and airy. Does anyone have a picture of it in your space? All of the pictures on here are stunning and worthy of spreads in Architectural Design, but not an apples to apples comparison to what what our kitchen would look like!!
