Considering that paper burns at 450 degrees farenheit, it's safe to say your box will be fine.

It may depend on whether you're doing an undermount sink installation or not. We are, and before they'll come and template, our fabricator told us to have the plywood layer on top with the hole for the sink cut out and the edge routed so that the sink sits in - flush with the top of the plywood. They also specified that there should be 1/4" of wiggle room. I don't know if this is typical or not. Good luck!

prill... I have no idea how much that tile is or if I can buy it directly. I found it while playing yesterday. I must have googled every combination of words relating to tile possible. The manufacturer is Soli. I'm jumping way ahead (for a change) cause I probably won't be able to afford the SS until the beginning of the year... never mind the backsplash. But save I will and I won't be in a rush. I've waited 3 years, I might as well hunker down for the long haul cause I really don't want to compromise. Unless that is, that the tile is some ridiculous price like Ann Sacks tile. I won't go over a certain price per sq.ft. There's just too much pretty tile out there. pickles... I LOVE Danby marble and your slab looks beautiful. I actually had considered it as one of my choices for the entire kitchen. I am smitten with this SS though now. I'm hoping to find a marble remnant for the bakers table. I need approx. 72"x30"... I haven't slab shopped yet so i don't know if that qualifies as remnant size. In the meantime, I check craigslist daily... you never know! I spoke to Florida Joshua. When the time comes, he'll be able to do the SS for me. It'll involve some planning, and extra trip charges (we are about 3 1/2 hours away); but well worth the money to know that the fabrication will be absolutely perfect. I"m very very very excited. DH and I came to the decision, that come the end of the year; we'll permanently move into this house whether we're done or not. Then I'll be able to rent my house and save the money I need to do the things we want. First, I'll have to do some tweaking work to my house to get it top dollar rental ready.

I bought both the mat and mylar from Amazon on line 3 years ago but I don't know if those particular ones are still available. Knowing Amazon though they probably have something similar and if you sift through what's there you might find a deal or check other places. Before I saw the larger mat I didn't realize that they made them in that size Ken I use a table because that's what I had available and it works for me. My table is 30 x 50 My lights are suspended from the floor joists above. I have 2 larger shop lights with fins. There is an inch between them so the light covers just about the whole table top. It's easy and convenient to tend my plants from each side and I can raise and lower each light separately as needed. The mylar also reflects the light between the fixtures so I can use the whole table top for plants. It does just fine for me until I open my greenhouse and it's cheaper than running a heater for the greenhouse when outside temperatures are too cold.
