for once.. a peep with a dream forest.. and the property to put it on ... whats that all about ... lol we are usually dealing with someone who has 200 square feet and wants a 385 foot tall redwood.. lol ... get ye to as many local arboteum as you can ... i am sure brandon can list some out .. and go explore what grows naturally within your area ... thats my best advice ... and its a nice way to waste a day outdoors ... if you can not find a labeled collection .. try to find and take a picture of a leaf .. and the trunk .. and many peeps here can probably offer an ID ... if i had 25 acres... i sure wouldnt wait until a marriage.. to start planting.. whats that all about .... have you already started reforestation???? or do you already have a forest??? ken

This thing has to be regionally adapted. "True lemons", Valencias, Oroblancos and Rio Reds dont do well in many places. For survival I would not have even one lemon much less two. Also after a few years, it is hard to eat all the fruit a large tree will yield. Also satsumas don't hold well here. And Republic of Texas orange is highly alternate bearing even though they can be easily grown from seed or cuttings and they give the sweetest fruit. I'd choose these for the Houston area: Golden grape fruit for those of us who dont like sour bitter grapefruit, it is wonderful, mid Nov - Feb. Henderson or Rio red seedling for late season. Red navel. Page hybrid. Bob Randal's Tonkan seedling, huge crops, super easy to juice, rind is good for flavoring. This is the cadmium red skinned mandarin that was at the Ag Extention orchard at Bear Creek Park. Can be grown from seed. All these fruit have high ammounts of nutrients and sugar.

Like wise Gary, since those hurricanes, my trees stop producing. I guess it was the streess. This is the first time they are fruiting. I am so exited. I would really love to see how your trees look now. It didnt see to make much of a diff. They were all burned and most started falling. I did my moms tree later during the day, like at dawn and nothing happend. so this must be sun burn like you said. My other tree the haden which had just one branch with fungus and the rest healthy, I sprayed only the affected area and nothing happened. No burns. Those darn little leaf notchers are pissing me of though. I would love to kill them, but can't since I would also kill the polinators. Gary, behind my shed is a bee hive. I left it alone since they never really bothered me and I figured I would leave them so they can fertilize my mango tree when the time is right. It's been a little over a year, and the other day I was looking at the flowers on one of my mango tree, and t was the best site ever! The bees where on that tree doing there thing with the flower. I was so happy. I tried to take a picture with my phone, but the bee didnt appear. Please post you pics. Ar eyou also in zone 10?

Hello! As long as the trunks are still firm, it should survive without a problem. Of course, it is late in the season to be repotting, but you might as well go for it. Definitely put it into a larger container with good drainage. That bonsai pot isn't allowing enough root room and, contrary to popular belief, these plants DO have a substantial root system when grown properly. Use a porous mix - the small-bark orchid mixes are a great start. Add in some of the rinsed perlite and then the grit/stones. Also, add in some of that slow release fertilizer when making the mix. Water the new mix and plant well. Josh
