pigment inks-help please

I am stamping my own thank you notes for my wedding and bridal shower! I bought silver pigment ink and it smears and seems to never dry! I am not too familiar with stamping and types of inks! Please give me some advice QUICK so I can get these done! Thanks a ton!

As far as I know (I'm also new to this), you need to heat emboss most pigment inks with embossing powder. Reminders: Stamp carefully, so as not to smear ink. DONT heat too long or it will 'scorch'. Also, DONT touch it for awhile before it cools/dries.

heidi janice is right you have to emboss pigment ink. another alternative to using the pigment inks is using a clear ink pad and the silvery glittery embossing powder this is how im doing my wedding/shower thank yous but im using gold instead of silver. embossing is real easy if you have never done there are several ways if you have lots to do (like i did on my wedding invites)i would suggest that you invest in one of the embossing guns (watch sundays paper and get the 40% off coupon to use at michaels if you have one near you ) but if not you will still find it to be easier and quicker than the other methods . You can use a hair dryer be sure to emboss from UNDERNEATH if you do it this way because the hairdryer will blow the embossing powder off if you dont, you can hold the items over a VERY HOT stove eye (i have done this in a pinch but i dont recommend it because i have both burned myself and caught the item that i was embossing on fire.) good luck. and congratulations.

A clean cloth that's been wetted down with plain rubbing alcohol works wonders. The method is very important though.. DO NOT RUB! Take the cloth and dab the spot, then move to a clean spot on your cloth and dab again. Continue this and change cloths as often as you need to. You don't want to spread the ink by rubbing the clean part of the carpet with your dirty cloth. Once most of the ink is off of the carpet fibers, you can actually pour a bit of alcohol right on the spot to try to get into the bottom of the carpet. Continue dabbing and using fresh areas of your cleaning cloth.

I get Ink on my clothes all the time. I register patients at a hospital and I am forever putting a uncapped pen in my pocket. What works for all us in admitting is, hair spray. The cheaper the better it will work. It will run the second it hits the ink so be ready with a paper towel. Then wash it with soap and water. Not sure if it will help with the yellow tint. Sherry

pigmented stucco vs. painting. please help!

I'm also in the Bay Area. Maybe it's standard practice in our region, but all of the stucco contractors I've talked to (4-5) have given me a quote for uncolored stucco, ie you have to paint it. When I asked about color in the stucco, one contractor told me it would cost more because he would have to use a Dryvit topcoat which costs more. In some ways, it makes sense to me, because it seems you have to pay for the added color pigments. I'm a bit surprised however at the paint quotes! I got a $10k paint quote for interior and exterior on a 2300 sq ft house. I saw his work on our neighbor's house and it looked good. He was highly recommended by two realtors, one of whom even added, "Please don't tell too many people about him." I know the adage, you get what you paid for, but could an additional $35k of painting be that much better?

Jann, by the looks of the web site I will link, it looks like it should be a dye base ink. I am not postive, but that's what it looks like to me. It's thier ink pads listed, but not that particular one. Hope this helps. One thing that might help you figure it out is, dye base dries quickly, pigment ink stays wet longer. If you have any embossing powder, try embossing with it. If the embossing powder sticks to the ink and puffs up like it's supposed to, then it's pigment. Hi Heidi,
I have not done embossing, but I do use pigment inks A LOT for stencilling. I know what you mean when you say it takes forever for it to dry. Could it be that you are using too much ink? WOuld it be possible for you to stencil your notes instead of embossing? If you decide to try that, email me and I will tell you how I do it, if that will help out at all!
