Oh, did I forget to mention...HELP me choose pleaseeee!

I have the same bathroom faucet!

Either one works with your cabs / knobs. The handle with backplate is more formal traditional, the cup-pulls more casual traditional. Your choices are both modern takes on the pulls / handles. But in their more traditional look the handle with backplate would go in a formal Victorian, the cup-pulls in a farmhouse. Depends on what feel you are going for.

What style is your furniture? Country oak or white? Then the cup-pulls. More formal sleek lines the handles.

Your bathroom is throwing me off! The marble shower screams handles with backplate, but the beadboard screams cup-pulls! Go with the cup-pulls in there because the beadboard is right next to it.

What is the counter and backsplash in the kitchen? If marble go with the handles. The upper glass cabinets also want me to say handles with backplates.

But it really depends on your furniture and backsplash. If you're doing tiles with fruit or hex - cup-pulls; modern glass or marble - handles. Subway - either one.

ive been planning on the cup pulls for my lower drawers - but those are V. cool! might rethink the pulls!

Your kitchen is GORGEOUS!! I personally love 1 becaues its really timeless and looks really old fashioned my own house is more transitional but my parents just did a very classic kitchen and did the "timeless classic" thing and it came out amazing i must say i was a little jealous..haha. You can't go wrong though with either!

I like option #2 the best. Both are beautiful, so you really can't go wrong. I too like cup pulls, but really don't like that you can only open the drawer with your hand in up position. With the other handle, you can grab it any which way. So now I'm wondering, where are these handles from?

#2 is wonderful. I'd choose it for looks alone, but the function is also better. Another factor to me would be that cup pulls are popular now. I try to shy away from trends when I have another option.

Beautiful kitchen Coastal! I vote for #2 as well. Both because I like the look better and for function. I too was going to add cup pulls in my kitchen. After installing them in the master bath I found it slightly annoying that you can only pull the drawers in with your hand in the up position as jenhp mentioned. I figured if it bugged me in the bathroom is was going to really bug me in the kitchen. Having said that, I think the cup pulls look great so I would go with the cup pulls in your bathroom and #2 in the kitchen.

I always like the visual of cup pulls, but I think the function (or less function) of them would drive me nuts in my own kitchen. My hands are usually caked with something as I rush to grab something out of a closed drawer. The regular pulls can be grabbed with that one clean pinky finger.

The backplate look is way cool too! Function and form together! And they're not trendy. So I vote #2. At least for the kitchen. I never think of cup pulls for a bathroom for some reason.

My personal preference is the backplate pulls mostly because the provide ease of function over the cup pulls. Cup pulls require more concentration if you will to open, whereas the bar pull doesn't you can get that baby from any angle - don't have to hit dead on.

BTW you don't really need 2 for your large drawers - lots of discussion/threads on that topic - One that is larger will be suited just fine. Perhaps once you make your choice you can do mock up.

natschultz- first, how do you like your bathroom faucets? I have never had 2 handle faucets except for my tub filler. I LOVE the look and just hope I love the function as well ;)

The overall style of the house is coastal cottage. Counters (marble) and backsplash (subway) both carrara, and furnishings slipcovered whites and wood tones with sea glass colors throughout. Plain Plain! That is why I was really liking the #2 options. An unexpected detail. How about if I did #2 in kitchen (function seems to outweigh here) and #1 in bathrooms?

I also prefer #2. The hardware looks much more substantial. The pulls in the first photo look as though they are stamped and have a thin edge which wouldn't be nearly as comfortable to handle as the more substantial and rounded surfaces of the #2 pictures. We purchased stamped pulls initially, but returned them when we didn't like how they felt. I'll look forward to seeing more of your kitchen. Looks great.

Coastal, could you please answer the question about where you found the back-plated lovelies? Not that I'm gonna copy you or anything.......

Oh no prob Breezy- they are from Pottery Barn! I had no idea they carried hardware. I was going to go with RH Gilmore pulls (they are on sale) but stumbled upon these. And no worries about copying- we are on opposite breezy coasts!!

Ok so here goes... #2 it is for the kitchen, and the cup pulls will go in the bathroom. So now I have to think about 1 or 2 pulls in the 30" cabs...too many decisions.
