High School/Theme Albums

I just graduated high school and want to make a scrapbook of all the things of done...however, I'm wondering if this album should just include all the everyday things I did or if I should try to include everything (which includes two trips to Europe with school, and an trip to the National Finals for Academic Decathlon. I'm debating on if I should make theme albums for these special events and then make a more general album of my friends, school plays, etc...any ideas, i'm new to this and would appreciate advice

Good Luck with your project. I am working on them for my high school kids and I have done a separate album for the sports seasons(have combined all the sports into one album) and the other book is their social events, family gatherings, etc. If you have enough pictures that you could do a separate album for your special events(trips to Europe) but also do a two page spread to put into your bigger album so you have your life in chronological order. Does this make sense-for instance if you went to Europe during the summer of 99-include that in the order of your bigger book? Send a response if that doesn't make sense. I always try to do a two page spread if possible so that the pages look nice together so if you have homecoming pictures and then nothing until Christmas you don't have a fall scene next to a winter scene. Just respond if this doesn't make sense. I also do some cheating with my books. Because I do pages for my daughters that I want in my book-I take my pages into Staples(office supply) and get a color copy made for $1.58 to put in my book. I use the 81/2 by 11 inch pages. How about including a small sampling of everything in one book and doing a more extensive version for each larger event like the Europe trips.

My son graduated last year. Like the above poster, I did it the weekend after graduation. I used disposable plates, napkins, cups in the school colors and balloons to decorate. We had a crowd; well over 100 people. I did the picture collages and a video that played on a laptop going through his birth to graduation pictures and videos all set to music. It was wonderful. I also had some of his school work and artwork from the elementary grades, some of it was so funny! Lots of sports memorobilia too as he is an athlete. I made a lot of food! My son's requests were his favorite chicken pasta salad and a chocolate fountain; both were big hits. Since it was his party I wanted to include him in the menu too. We did not serve any alcohol but we did order a Root Beer keg from the liquor store. We put some prefilled cups with ice cream in a cooler so people could make floats but I think most just drank the Root Beer. We went through a 16 gallon keg in a little over 3 hours. It was outside on the deck because it gets sticky. Guest really loved it and I got a lot of good comments. I set up a volleyball net in the back yard. After the official hours of the party, the teenage guests stayed and played some very competitive volleyball for a couple hours and I served them leftover sandwiches, salads, fruit and punch. I suggest you designate someone with your camera to get pictures of your DD with guests, grandparents, aunts, uncles, special friends, etc... you'll be much too busy and you'll appreciate having the pictures later. I went to the 25th of the high school I would have graduated from if we hadn't moved to FL before I was a senior. It was a blast, I had so much fun and it was great to see how the young kids I knew growing up turned out into lovely adults. I got to see my old neighbor, Ted, who was just a rotten kid and a troublemaker, now he's married and responsible and a family man, that was special. Woody went with me but left after the dinner, we had a long drive ahead of us the next day. I was having too much fun to leave, some of the "kids" looked exactly the same and others were unrecognizable. All of them were nice, though. It was a fun evening, 2 actually, we had an informal meeting at a pub type place the first night and the country club the 2nd night. The only sad part was watching the same 2 women get totally plastered each night. I felt really bad about that, what a waste for 43 year old women. It was embarrassing to watch. I'm glad I went though, it really was helpful for me to stop imagining everyone as 16 year olds and see them all grown up.

I make scrapbooks for each of my brothers and their children, my children, my mom, dad, myself, and my bf, grandparents and cousins and aunts and uncles. WHEW! I ALWAYS get douple prints, so if I have a photo of say myself and one of my brothers, I get a copy in my scrapbook and I make a page for his using the second photo. I gave each of my family members a scrapbook for christmas last year (over 17) and they LOVE getting pages added to it, as I make them. I bought a BUNCH of 3 ring binders cheap at yard sales, and put their names on the back of the binder, so when I get photos developed I put their photos in a page protecter inside their binder till I have the time to scrap their photos. When I have several done, I give them their pages for holidays, or birthday gifts. They all LOVE this. Love Penny

50th High School Reunion Idea

I'm chairing our 50th High School Reunion & we've joined the other HS in our district. As a Creative Memories Advisor now & Consultant for 22 years previously, I am going to have each HS have either an 8x8 or 12x12 album that classmates can write in at our event in September, 2018. Then, I'm thinking of giving them to our respective Alumni Associations to keep & store for the future. Since we graduated in 1968, we're going to use the Denim coversets! Any thoughts or ideas?

My daughter also did a lot of things in high school which she wanted to remember in a scrapbook. This was before scrapbooking got so popular and she invented a lot of ideas herself! Her solution to your problem was to do one scrapbook for each year of high school...so she ended up with 4 books, but that way she could include all that she wanted to. They came out great and she will always have those treasured memories in good order. Hope this helps. Mrs.T
