Fabuwood Galaxy Frost Cabinets and white paint?
Comments (56)I have some good news. I was able to find a close match for for my Fabuwood bright white galaxy frost cabinet molding. I took one of the doors to my local Benjamin Moore paint store, its not a 100% but its about 95% match. I repainted that original cabinet that I posted before with the Sherwin Williams paint and I am posting these new pictures so you can see the improvement. I am very satisfied with this color and it only cost $26 for the pint size, better than paying $79 to Fabuwood. I bought the crown molding from Home Depot, it was a lot cheaper than purchasing them from Fabuwood. This was a big project cutting and installing the crown molding....See MoreWhy are my white cabinets turning yellow?
Comments (12)My guess is that oil from the original doors is bleeding through. The oils can penetrate the cabinets and make it very difficult to clean completely. I follow the painttalk forum - a painters industry forum. Have gotten the right information before starting paint projects by reading their forum first. The guys on the Painters forum seem to swear by Zinzer BIN shellac Base Primer - they warn not to use the synthetic formula and to check the date on the can - 3 year shelf life. You can prime over the paint and then re-paint. https://www.painttalk.com/f3/new-member-issue-bleed-through-cabinets-86186/...See MoreWhite oak stair caps stained to match floor turned yellow.
Comments (9)OK...first things first. Water based finishes (not oil modified = cheaper) do NOT amber over time. White oak has a history of TANNIN PULL when water based finishes have been used. White Oak tannin pull = light yellow+ green tints. The 'guy' who left his wood 'natural' used an oil based finish. I guarantee it. In the wood flooring industry the word 'natural' means "no stain + oil based finish". That is the 'natural look' of wood that 98.97% of wood professionals BELIEVE to be 'natural'. What you are describing is, in the wood industry, referred to as 'raw'. Which would work PERFECTLY with your wood flooring. Sadly, the words you used (not your fault...just the way you described raw looking wood as natural) are not the words used in the wood industry. The issue is the YELLOW. The 'ambering' is coming from oil based (aka. solvent based finishes that STINK to high-heaven) products. A full-on water based finish will NEVER amber. A WOOD WORKER will know this. A painter will not. Lacquer is a way of saying oil based. Oil based turns orange all by itself. The painter, by saying 'lacquer' is saying 'oil based' will not turn yellow. Which is completely false. Sorry but it is the truth (assuming the lacquer is an oil based finish). In short, you can have this redone by using a wood professional who KNOWS what the look is that you are after. They will need to know you WANT water based finishes (not oil, not oil modified) used. You WANT a sealant used to PREVENT tannin pull on white oak. You will pay for all of these high-end products and the cost of the redo. It is entirely possible to get this done using a wood working or a WOOD flooring professional (flooring guys HATE stairs...as in HATE being to soft a word...). My question becomes: why is a painter refinishing stairs? It is considered WELL outside their job description (despite their protests to the contrary!)....See MoreDieffenbachia leaves turning transparent/yellow (with white residue)
Comments (3)is it a houseplant.. if so.. just fyi.. there is such a forum .. looks sunburned.. and perhaps it occurred when its roots werent pumping water properly due to the repotting ... it is extremely stressed.. not hungry.. fert is not a response at this time.. water a plant when it needs it.. not on some random schedule.. most likely related to the bad media you got rid of... in the pix.. the media looks sodden.. to the extent that i doubt it would dry in 5 to 7 days... let it near dry before you water again .. try not to love it to death.. you need to learn to water properly.. and then give it a few months to releaf and recover.. there is nothing you can do to make those damaged leaves better ... but as long as they are green. they can process light into energy for the plant.. so dont go cutting them all off .. until the brown completely.l you will know you are on the right track.. when you get vibrant new growth ... and at that point.. for every new leaf.. cut off a bad leaf .... ken...See Morekompy
