Now what? Disney Strikes Again?

For heaven's sake......no wonder I'm not going to fork over any more $$. Am I just too old and missed something offesive in that article. Is no wonder this place is so slow.

Off to investigate my new MSN FREE account.

The article was copyrighted material, I guess I should have supplied a link rather than posting it. I thought I gave the author and source, thinking that would be adequate. I received a note regarding copyrighted material from the webmaster. It's possible someone reported it to the webmaster for content after my last post, however, as the thread had been up for many weeks. Truth is truth, not always pretty.

For shade, Rhododendron are great everygreen sheilds. The are not very dense, but will spread and provide good screening over time. Plus gorgeous flowers. I also have viburnum that grows in shade, but it is supposed to need some sun, though mine doesn't seem to. The red twig dogwood is a good choice, too, though little help in winter. Mountain Laurel (Kalmia latifolia) is another lovely shrub for shade. It is beautiful in flower, which here in northern new Jersey is just finishing, and has very pretty leaves. It thrives in understories, but is not as dense as a hedge. If you set either rhododenron or kalmia in a bit from the site you are trying to sheild, however, you will be unlikely to see to the shed and compost bin beyond. A large mirror set back against the shed behind your new lovely sheds gives depth and interest in that corner too. Just a thought.:)

It's sad rosie, but I agree with you. BM is taking us to court to raise child support as a counter for the contempt. I want to strangle this BEAST!!! Granted child support hasn't been modified legally in 8 years, hubby and the ex worked out an extra $100. on top of garnished wages, and he buys everything SD wants or needs, so it was fine for the last 8 years. Now all of the sudden it's not fine anymore?? Hubby offered her another $100 (he'd have to quit smoking to do this) and she said no that wasn't enough. Basically by the time she's done we'll break even, and she'll end up having to put out MORE MONEY to pick up all the extra's we normally cover for SD...it's ironic, but she's screwing herself. So let her. LOL We had SD last weekend, and she told me BM saw an e-mail SD sent to a friend calling her mom the "B" word, and BM freaked out, was packing her stuff and ready to send her to live with us perminately, only SD brother was crying and begging his mom not to do this, which is what stopped her this time. SD also told me that BM told her " I am the ONLY mother you will ever have, 'Mikkella' means nothing to you," and SD actually stood up for me (falling on the floor here) and said it wasn't fair of her, that her dad and I are almost married, her mom freaked out on her again, yelling screaming, making her cry, so she let it go. I told her it was a nice thought but to avoid conflict at home to just agree with the "B" word. LOL Then SD told me that she's afraid cause she's getting a "C" in school, and we all know if SD gets a "C" she'll be coming to live with us. Well not now since SD is turning into BM cash cow so to speak, and I am so tempted to tell SD to throw that in her face, but I won't stoop to the Bi**hes level. Instead I told her to ask her mom if she really wants her to live there, and if the answer is yes then ask her why her home is a constant threat when it's suppose to be a safe haven? After this conversation hubby took the two oldest girls bowling, while I had the 2 little ones. We went to get some milk at the store a block from my house and who is there?? BM....what makes it odd is I live in NH...she lives in MA....what the hell is she doing in my state? I was good, I promised Hubby I wouldn't start anything but god I wanted to. My son was excited at all the candy, saying "Mommy look mommy look" and BM started mimicking him and laughing at me....ummm, okay....I didn't even respond to her. If it wasn't for money we'd have custody willingly signed over by the BM...that is sad. On a lighter note, our wedding is quickly approaching....another reason BM is being a "B" word. LOL

There are certainly a few things wrong. My intuition is that somebody changed out the panel and hooked up the wiring in a temporary manner, assuming they will be back to run new wires as something like the kitchen gets remodeled. It seems quite common for remodelers to get an electrician in to replace a panel while promising them the rest of the work, and then never calling them back. This is usually in order to get the best price and get the electrician out in the fewest hours possible, thinking they will be back to fix the temporary stuff at the appropriate time. This leaves unfinished work that nobody feels responsible to fix or don't know better. I have heard too many stories of this when being called to fix these messes. It seems that the "handyman" is always trying to keep as much money from the job as possible. The way they do that is to include the electrician's bid in with theirs, have the electrician make an appearance for the panel and temporary splices, and then do the rest of the work themselves while cutting corners and handing the owner a bill that includes the price for what a qualified electrician would have charged. This is common enough that I won't accept a remodel job unless I am paid in full up front, which keeps someone from thinking they can save money by finishing it themselves.

I went to Home Depot in Santa Clarita today and saw RMV on the Iceberg roses they were selling. I asked the manager about it and he said the grower assured him they were treated. I let him know that heat treatment is the only way and the grower is not going to do that for Iceberg roses. He claims that Lowe's uses the same grower, but I don't know if that's true. So, I'll probably see RMV popping up all over my city. Iceberg is the most planted rose in this area.

Thanks Barnmom! I thought it was a good article and a lot of good information for those that choose that venue.

Though I wasn't active on this forum in it's original incarnation, it has been said that it was discontinued back then due to it's "racy" content. Perhaps there are those who believe that single people should be leading completely chaste lives.

I'm one who truly misses this forum. I found it very interesting reading and loaded with people... My hope was that it would pick up once again, but alas, it hasn't.

I am new here, so I never have known any thing else. I hope people start coming in more often.
Maybe we could start a question of the day type thing.
I'll start:

Do you like to travel, or would you rather stay close to home?

I like to travel, but not for loooooong stretches of time.
If I go south during the winter, I only want to be gone about 6 weeks, not 3 months. And I love doing little weekend trips.

What is the point of this forum?

a) To meet other singles.

b) To meet other singles with like interests.

c) To discuss being single in a two-by-two world. (when couples stop inviting you because you are no longer part of a couple, etc.)

d) To discuss ways to meet other 3D singles that have a modicum of dignity. (is this possible?)

e) To share our dating experiences if we do meet other 3D singles. (vent, gloat, whatever!)

f) Share why being single is great. (it does beat the pants off of being in a bad marriage!)

g) Discuss dating etiquette. (Elimidate notwithstanding!)

And to do all this in a positive, supportive non-judgemental way. (ok, I can dream...)

And we wonder why no one posts here? Guess you missed the last sentence of my post. I was trying to get this lame, half-dead forum to limp forward for another day. Thanks for all your kind encouragement, Candler. You made my day.

Well, I've always thought a positive mindset attracts people more than anything. You know: honey attracts more flies than vinegar. Talk about stuff that interests you, DO stuff that interests you, and the rest flows. For me, the "single" part of any conversation is completely secondary and often irrelevant. That's why I don't limit my participation to this forum. Thank heaven Spike gave us literally hundreds of forums through which we can meander.

And now, Gene, I'm off to your coffee thread to see what caffeine-induced adventures you've been up to lately! :o)

LOL @ BarnMom. I like the part about not being included in the two x two world. I am single, not by choice this time. But being divorced or widowed is the same. Your still a single woman, and usually not invited to get togethers. Except for the KT forum. I went to their get together in Iowa last month. I had a great time, and met lots of nice people. Married and single.

I didn't notice this forum was here before. I just stumbled upon it while doing a search.

I wanted to say this...I'm married but I have a number of single friends and I would never dream of not inviting them to a get-together because they aren't a couple. In fact, I find it more intersting to have single/married/gay...what have you folks to my parties. I went to party just last night hosted by a married friend. There were a number of singles there. If you haves "friends" that don't invite you to their parties because you're single, you should re-think your choice of friends.
