someone stole my ABC tracers!!

I was so excited today when I saw my QVC package in the mail. I had ordered the ABC tracer templates that were on last Sunday. Well, the package was all I got! It was nicely slit end to end on the one side and the package was completely empty! I called QVC after I talked to my post office, and they are kindly replacing them. My DH says someone probably threw them out when they found out that's what was in the package - do you think they were very disappointed?!!! I suppose they were, if they weren't a scrapbooker! Has this happened to any of you? --Patty

Dear Patty,
I sent a LARGE package of goodies to a scrapper in TX one time and she said that the postman always hangs her packages on her mailbox, since her driveway is so far from her house and when she got home all that was hanging there was the handles of the bag. I am however a little suspicious of this though since I had the box insured and it should have been signed for before it was left. Plus she also claims to have never received the letter from the post office that she had to sign in order for me to get my money back for the box. If she would have just signed the letter from the post office I would have felt a lot better about the whole thing and felt she was being more truthful about the situation. She does not post of this board so please do not feel it was someone from here. I have been delighted with all the swaps I made with the people on this forum. However on another forum I go to a woman lost over $500.00 in a credit card scam with another member. Buyer or swapper beware. The best thing to do is swap small amounts until you are positive your swap or purchase will be returned. Penny

What a shame about your tracers! Geez...honesty is such an easy thing to practice...so sad that many people don't see it that way, eh? I can't believe that someone would actually steal something out of the mail!! Holy smokes..some people!!
Glad to hear though that QVC is replacing them!

I'm going to take a pass on this swap...I am still trying to get over the Thanksgiving that was supposed to be elsewhere....but ended up here anyways....and now onto Christmas LOL....and if that wasnt bad enough, someone decided to trash half of my outside Christmas ornaments tonight(some people are just sick, they tore up my elderly neighbors display as well!)...I almost lost the little bit of Christmas spirit I had, but I refuse to let some idiot spoil it for me AND I am determined to get into the full spirit just to spite them LOL! Sooz, the best thing to do is get you an Insurance Agent who specializes in this kind of insurance. If you know of any caterers that would be willing to speak to you about it, see if they have an agent. The agent is not the same as the insurance company. The agent will go find you an insurance company with the best price, do all the leg work, and most importantly, know the rules. And here in Georgia, a contracted person you do not have to pay social security, taxes on. You pay them a flat salary and they take care of their own taxes. But you would need an I9 (think that's the #) to show citizenship or work visas. Simple, have a copy of their driver's license and SS card and have them fill/sign a one page form that you keep in your files. This is a form you can find online and print out. A lawyer can fix you up with corporate papers that would protect your personal assets in the case of any law suits. I personally would start with the lawyer even though they're going to cost you some big bucks. They'll keep you going in the right direction. Good luck with this - it sounds great! Beth

I'm not going to beat this horse much longer... but here's my take on this and it applies to a larger conversation: If an end user wants the benefit of expert knowledge and good service, then by all means I think they should enlist the help of a local water treatment service and expect to pay for that expertise and service. If an end user has reasonably simple needs and is willing to do some research and learn, get his/her hands dirty, and have something that does a "pretty good job" for significantly less money - then an online purchase of a water softener can be an option. I feel like these softeners on Amazon provide a good value, using a good valve and otherwise commodity parts. They offer a higher-quality and better-service alternative to going to a big box store and getting something. However, they shouldn't be measured using the same yardstick as a local treatment expert. What makes me angry are the outfits that charge like they are attorneys, will lecture you about being professionals when they are questioned about the rate, and still not deliver the expertise or service. Case in point is the user on here who was charged $700 to hook up a water softener and they didn't include an air gap in the drain. Also, the man who had lost all of his resin in his kinetico water softener twice after paying big to have it fixed once. RayMO, The feedback from the purchasers of the unit that you purchased has been uniformly very positive - the only negatives were from people who had really unrealistic expectations of the install process. I think that you will be happy with your purchase. I have been really pleased with mine.

I had a problem once with our post office. We had a po box and at christmas time received a notice that a package had arrived for us. 2 times we tried to pick it up and were told the notice was put in our box by mistake. about a month later we were visiting friends in another town when she asked why I hadn't said anything about our christmas gifts. She did a trace on the package and about a month later I received another notice that we had a package. I was told we never tried to pick it up and if we had we would of had a card with the number of the shelf space it was on. Well what we had was a box full of mold. She had sent us several dozen home made cookies and pita bread. The post office would do nothing about it since the package wasn't insurred

I got my ABC tracers! QVC sent them at no charge, and they sent them UPS this time. Now if I can just find time to scrap!! - Patty
