Scrappin by themes...

Hi ! I have a question here.... WHen you all make your scrapbooks... do you make them by themes or dates? Meaning... do you take years of Fall pictures, and make a FALL scrapbook... then all the Christmas pics and make a Christmas Scrapbook... or do you just start a scrapbook and add all kinds of pictures as you take them?

THanks for any input :)

I'm only working on my first scrapbook right now, and it has a little bit of everything in it for now. But I do want to make an album for each of my kids, and another for my wedding pictures. Once I get enough pages put together, I'll buy more albums and seperate the pages for everyone to keep.

I have 4 albums: 1 for each of my 2 sons, 1 general family, and 1 heritage (my mum and dad's photos).

Within each album the pages are in chronological order.

Where photos overlap - eg photos of both my sons at Christmas for instance, I would do 1 layout in their personal albums with photos where they feature, and then a layout in the family album with the best of the remaining photos.

Thanks everyone for your wonderful comments. This table was fun to do. I was thrilled when I found those flower plates. I thought of using the glass baskets at the last minute. Oh I forgot to mention that I got the name card holders at CTS. Punk The stem ware was originally a service for 8 one of the goblets was broken, as well as several of the cordials. OA I'll be sure to send everything to you just as soon as I have some free time LOL. It would be fun, tho, to see how some one else would do a table using the same things. The table reminds me of spring as well, especially since there is 7 more inches of snow on the ground. NanaK

Connie- I was just rereading this post and saw you asked about the vanishing ink pens. You should be able to get them at any LSS although you may have to ask for them. The friend who told me about them said they were never in stock because they had a waiting list and every shipment was sold before it came in. That was more than year ago, though so you shouldn't have any problem now. I know Chatterbox Inc. makes them, but I'm not sure if they are the only ones. They have ads in Creating Keepsakes magazine. I have it in front of me now, actually. Page 31 of the Feb. issue. Their website is below and their phone is 1-888-272-3010. You may even be able to order online if you don't have a store close by. Here's my idea. Take it for what it's worth. It would be fun to have a periodical (weekly, monthly, whatever) motivational theme. Everyone could post sites, ideas, or whatever that match that theme and if interested could make up pages for their own scrapbooks. I'm thinking of something that would be a motivator to work on pages not a type of competition. I don't post personal pictures on the internet so I wouldn't post a final page, but would be interested in ideas or sayings related to certain subjects. Here is a stab at some idea themes for events. 4th of July Picnics Summer Vacation moving everyday life (this is more of a challenge to scrapbook than most events) the lake I have to go take care of business, but maybe somebody has some ideas and could expand this idea.

Creating Keepsakes magazine has helped me a lot. They have a lot of layouts and there are a lot of concepts you can adapt to many applications. Gracefulbee.com also has a ton of great ideas. I spent a whole lot of time there before I started my first album and got to the point where I said to myself, "Stop gathering all these ideas and tips- you have too much to choose from as it is! Quit it and get to the actual scrapbooking!" :) I also spent a lot of time- several days, actually- on message boards like this one gathering ideas and info. Don't be afraid to directly email posters and ask for further details and clarification on a specific post, either. We all love to share. If we didn't, we wouldn't have posted in the first place! My first (and only) scrapbook is when my husband and I spent 2 weeks in hiking in the Smoky Mountains. The entire book is that trip. I have to say I am really proud of this. I got so many different ideas from different web sites.
We went to Disney last Fall and I have tons of stuff for that one too, just haven't had the time to start it. Soon I hope.I love to take tons of pictures, which helps.
