If you can find a hat of the same size that you want...it's a piece of cake to figure out the pattern... It's knit from the brim up on circular needles..garter stitch edge, decreasing after an inch or so to get the proper dimensions for the head....then knit straight up and decreased by the psso method every other row and finished. Trimmed with crocheted flowers. You need to figure out your gauge and measure a hat of the correct size. I made a very similar one a couple of years back. One of the tricks it to use double yarn and knit tightly so the brim has substance and will curl up. Linda C

I haven't posted for a long,long, time although I have lurked! I am one of the old-timers so the paper dolls I had were the celebrities of the 1940's. I had a suit box full with the likes of Sonja Henie,Judy Garland, Ziegfield Follies, Betty Grable Gone with the Wind. Also WW2 military. If you have ever seen any of the paper dolls from this era I am sure you would agree they were some of the most beautiful sets printed. The outfits from the Ziefield set was especially gorgeous. Boo,hoo sorry to say these were not saved. Oh, how I would enjoy looking at those again. Lois

Thanks for the comments. As for pattern choices... my goodness they're difficult! One pp that I chose that I thought would be simple, turned out to be a nightmare to make (my apologies!). I would love to choose more complex/adult/mature patterns, but I worry about whether they would scare away beginner level quilters. Another problem I'm running into is that there are a lot fewer non-juvenile themed patterns in pp that are on free sites. And many of the applique patterns seem awfully time consuming for a lotto, though I love them.... such as floral wreath patterns. The last couple of lottos, I've tried having pp and applique in the same month so that quilters who enjoy one technique, but not the other, don't need to sit out a cycle. And it's very difficult finding TWO patterns, one pp & one applique (in the same or similar sizes) that will go together in the same project. I'll try a couple of more lotto cycles, but would definitely welcome suggestions of pattern/fabric combinations that fit the criteria I'm trying to meet each month. Thanks, Kay

They have a package of paper that is for multicultural skin tones. It is construction paper weight, and comes in packs of 72 sheets of 12 shades, for $6.
