Singer Rmm-1190?

I saw this model with wood domed case yesterday. It's pretty, manual says "25" published in 1973, it's a repro of old treadle machine with Egyptian motif painting or decals. Is it a good machine? I keep hearing about the 221 Featherweights, this wasn't light. It was $75, I told DD you can buy a new machine with built-in stitch functions (albeit a basic one) for about that. Should I keep looking for a 221?

"I keep hearing about the 221 Featherweights, this wasn't light."

The "Featherweight" is NOT a light machine - it's solid metal. It was portable, but a muscle-builder. It's also $300+ because of the demand from quilters.

For modern fabrics, you need zig-zag and stretch stitches too. If she's just going to be sewing no-stretch firm woven fabric, that might work for her.

DD is only 6, she's not sewing for a while. She just saw it and thought it was pretty and I should buy it. Someone else bought it.
