Carol----there are so many roses I would love to have but my yard is too shady. there has been red update info on the first pages up at the top telling about the problems that are happening on GW, some people keep that area collapsed so do not see it. tami if it is a new laptop and has windows 7 on it go into the security center and make sure the included windows firewall is turned on, some come with it turned off, make sure you have it set to on. It is a good firewall on windows 7. The other program I always recommend everyone use is malwarebytes which is free, it will take care of the infections that your antivirus program misses, just be sure you update it before running the full scan and do that once a week or so. Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (Win) - Detecting and Removing Malware I also recommend spywareblaster which is free too, no scans to do with it, just update it weekly then hit the enable all protection so the shield is green and it helps protect you while surfing. SpywareBlaster Make sure you watch out for when the version of the Antivirus that came on the pc expires it is not usually a very long free trial. to stop all those ads and banners you would need to get firefox browser and add the extension ad block plus with the easylist subscriptions. It is always a good idea to have at least one additional browser in addition to IE in case IE failed you would still have access to get online. making sure your laptop has all the needed updates is essential, not just the windows updates which are a must but also updates for Java, adobe, flash etc. to check what is needed you can run the secunia tool which will help you make sure you have everything updated. Oh, I so love Discworld. I got my first taste of Pratchett in the book he wrote with Neil Gaiman Good Omen, and fell in love, and later got hooked on his others. Lately Pratchett's Disc books have been less enjoyable - he has a tendency to want to hit you over the head with his message - but his first ones were great fun. But like you, I know other folks who just can't take him, but love the same sci/fantasy stuff that I do. Piers Anthony was like that for my DH. When we were first going together, he was browsing through my books and wanted to know what this one shelf was all about. Well, it was Xanth. I told him how I devoured them in college, and that he'd no doubt love them. So he took the whole shelf home with him. It was a while before I asked him what he thought, and he sheepishly said 'will you hate me if I tell you I couldn't stomach passed the first?" Well of course not - but then I decided to have a re-read. Oh my gawd. Pretty horrid. But wonderful memories.
