Storage in Cabinet above Fridge
Comments (20)We keep our electric griddle in that cabinet. It's a little too high for evryday things, but the griddle is something only my husband uses and he can easily get it out when he needs to. Our griddle takes up mose of the width of the cabinet so it's a good fit. I will second (third) the idea of slide outs shelves - it would be much easier to get things at the back of the cabinet....See MoreBest use of cabinet space above the fridge?
Comments (17)Pitchers, vases, water bottles, Christmas cookie containers, etc. Our napkins & trivets are also store there since the refrigerator is right next to the DR where we eat all our meals. Our cabinet isn't nearly as tall as Holligator's. In fact we have no shelf in it. It's only as tall as our Tupperware 2qt pitchers are + 2 or 3 inches. Here's a pic (the cookie containers are now in the back...this was taken during Christmas when they had cookies in them...so they had to be accessible! Napkins must have been on the table since they're not in this pic.) For tray/platter/griddle storage, we used the cabinet over the ovens. It's the same depth but taller. The items are also lower to the floor so easily accessed. To get an item on the shelf, you only need to grasp it by its bottom corner, so it's not an issue where the top of the items are....See MoreFull Extension Roll Outs in Cabinet Above the Fridge?
Comments (26)MileHighDiva -- Sorry for the delay in answering your question. I have been getting slammed by work lately and have not been on GW much at all. Our over-the-fridge cabinet is 36" wide (like the fridge) and one the left side, 15" deep, on the right side (with the tray dividers) 24" deep (full depth). The KD suggested not going all the way back to the wall on the left side as we weren't doing the tray dividers there, and I was complaining about how things in an old over-the-fridge cabinet seemed to get lost in the back. I am very happy with the cabinet after about 4 months in the new kitchen, and think it is probably one of my favorite built-ins. The tray dividers are completely accessible to me (without a step stool) even though I am only 5'3" -- I can easily grab the front of the trays. The wine is reachable without a stepstool, but if I get up on my little foldable stool, I can actually read the labels. Overall, a highly recommended layout!! Hope my advice is not too late. Good luck!...See MoreHelp integrating store bought wall shelves next to fridge cabinet
Comments (16)I'll offer up something totally different just as an option, wire shelving units that are very functional though not as decorative as some other suggestions. You can put the shelf units wherever you want on the legs. If you place the bottom shelf at the lowest level for stability (lower than what is shown in these photos), you could then possibly place the next shelf high enough up to leave room for your feeding station. Because they are wire shelves, you may need to place a board or plexiglass on some of the shelves. These are reasonably priced and highly rated (5 stars with hundreds of reviews), Wire Shelving Unit...See Morebluekitobsessed
