Painted Lower Doors as a Temporary Measure?

Hi,

I've posted before about my budget Craigslist kitchen, and wanted opinions. When we purchased the cabinets, we agreed that we would purchase new doors. (Very good price for high end cabinets.) We have the cabinets in, butcher block is in, and tile is going to go up soon (soon for us is within the month - we are weekend kitchen warriors, and it is Spring sports season at school - kids come first.) At this time we can't afford new doors, and even thought the kitchen "bones" are in great condition, I really don't like the style of the doors, and so much oak.

Here's the question: has anyone here completed their kitchen with light painted cabinets on the lowers only, and wood above? That is opposite of what I usually see. However, I like an open look and want to leave the wood above, with maybe a painted back of the cabinet. Also, has anyone painted only the doors? We have full overlay doors, and as we may be using quartersawn/rift oak for our doors in the future, we thought we should paint only the doors. We would add lightly stained oak beadboard to the ends of the cabinet run. Also, I did a test cabinet, and could transform the modernish cabinets to a warmer look.

With above cabinet (early morning light above - a little dark.)

Any opinions or comments either way very much appreciated.

Sorry, I have spent a while trying to imbed the above photos - I'll have more time later. I'll link to one below:
