Dear Deb,
Start with some photos of your cat or dog, or some photos you don't mind messing up! Buy paper to match just those photos, and stickers and embelishments first. Get a good idea book or browse www.dmarie, or www.gracefulbee.com for layout ideas. After you do a few pages that are not REALLY important then,
Take the photos of the ultrasound and get them copied, (most ultrasound photos detiorate VERY quickly) first, that way if you mess them up, you have spares! Then take them to the store that you purchase paper from and buy the paper to match the photos, or a baby page kit. Do one page at time, your work will get better with each page. Love Penny

You may want to host a home demo. There are several companies out there that do scrap book demos - CTMH, CM, etc. You will get several great tips, freebies and good advice.

How exciting for you,I just finished a scrapbook for new nephew. I would purchase a acid free 3 ring scrapbook, so you can add pages easily, some page protectors, I used 8x11 album, and a babyscrap kit(available at Michaels, Ac Moore, and Walmart, and start from there. A copy of a scrapbook magazine is also useful to get some ideas. I started with a nice announcement page, meeting the family, coming home, and then did Firsts... bath, tooth, steps... holidays, and a page of months, to record growth. You will become inspired and find lots to do. Have fun, and happy scrapping.

The album size and type is totally up to you. The larger 12 x 12 pages, are ofter easier to work with since they give you more room to add embelishments and other photos too, but the smaller 8.5 x 11 albums have a larger selection of paper, but they can easily be added to a 12 x 12 page, for more variety. I have both albums and usually save the larger size for special events like weddings, etc., but hey a new baby that is SPECIAL. Unless you have a TON of money you want to just throw around the home parties scrapbook supplies are usually a LOT more expensive than the hobby stores, and many have requirements that only allow you to use their products at their shows, and crops, which I find much too limited for my tastes. I think it would be a nice keepsake if you wrote some pages for your granddaughter. You could include your excitement waiting for her arrival, memories of your family life, memories of your son/daughter, etc.

Nothing would be more precious to me than if my grandmother had been able to write something for me while she was still alive. :'-(

When I look back at my very 1st scrapbook, I get disgusted at how much I thought I had to cut the pictures.
Now, I only cut off the part of the photo that no one would ever be interested in...such as a recliner that takes up the whole left side of a photo, or excess grass at the bottom of a pic.
I get tons of compliments on my albums now, and people tell me I should quit nursing and just scrapbook professionally.

There's a ton of stuff to choose from out there, but be creative and imaginative.
Don't buy stickers of flowers...create your own.
Don't place stickers messily over your entire page..group them together to make a scene or corner decoration.
This way, they won't take away from your pictures (which should be the focal point of your album).
