I have a few. The best is the wheel w/handle from a restaurant supply. I use it mainly for baking or noodles. But our big chef knife is always right there, on the magnet above the chopping prep area, right next to the oven...so i usually grab that. That said, for a gift, i like the one posted, the Zyllis. I have some peelers by them. They appear a bit cheapy but have help up well...i have proof. DH just found one in the compost pile. I lost it shortly after purchase. Over a year ago. Now that the pile, the far left, is good composted soil, it easily appeared being white on the handle. Works like a charm. Just curious. What retailer has the best return policy for smalls? For example, i have a really heavy wheel that fell apart. I've got its parts in a zip-lock. Obviously no idea where i bought it. So i just need to DIY from hd'ware store parts. BB&B? I've only been in a couple times. Seems chaotic, especially the return counter. Home Goods near me? Forget it. The check-out is always 20-30 in line. I bought a set of Omnigrid Marking Ruler Trio - for adding a quarter - they specifically say not to use with rotary cutters. Live and learn - They are only good for drawing a 1/4" line such as for HST - I never would have bought them had I realized I can't use them w/ the rotary cutter. I am using a 12" mat that turns next to the machine, and I am waiting for delivery of a small iron that Gwen ( sunnycentralfl) recommended. I'm really on the fence about buying the smaller cutter. If you have the one I'm thinking of (clear plastic, long handle you hold and another spins to make the circle), I do like that one, my mom has it and it works pretty smoothly. I have found that most cutters work better on glass (I have a glass cutting board) I don't have a circle cutter--want to get one!--but do have the Fiskars oval and don't really like it. I also have a doodle cutter...works good with strong templates and on a glass cutting board. It takes alot of practice, but works better than scissors; especially for making fun shapes and it's very compact! I think as part of Natl Scrapbook Day, I may end up getting the CM cutting system (circles/ovals) I used it at a party once and my pics looked so much nicer than when using scissors. I have used the larger cutter like this one for paper and photos. For a quick paper cut, I keep an old rotary cutter for just paper use. Have you checked the cutting machines yet? They are lots of fun too for scrap-booking and card making.
