Has anyone made a kaleidoscope page? I just got the Memory Makers mag today and they have a bunch of layouts, some of them look very complex! Do you need special tools, is it easy etc. Any input appreciated.

I have the Kaleidoscopes book from MM magazine, and they are beautiful. I haven't done one yet, but I'm going to (someday LOL).

All you really need is a protractor for measuring your angles, or if you have the two triangles from a geometry set, those are even better.

If you use 4 photos (2 original, 2 reversed) then you cut the photos at 90degrees. If you use 6 photos, then the angles are 60degrees. If you use 8, cut them at 45degrees. You get the idea.

Mary there is a recent thread about the problems of LS Kaleidoscope. Drawstring effect I think it is called and I hope that Jo is nearby because she always has these quick link retrievals. I have one and so does DonB and AlmostHooked. And McTavish as well It does not do well for me since I got it in Sept 2011. However it is okay this spring. I haven't looked at it in a couple of weeks. Another recommendation, fwiw... A small hosta 'Lakeside Cupcake' - do you have this one? It has some similarity to High Society as far as substance goes, but is much more vigorous, and the yellow centre turns creamy white depending on sun exposure. Takes to sun well here (zone 5) and gained 6 eyes in addition to the 5 it had last year. L. CC on right...minis BME and PBox, to left of it. The yellow one top centre is English Sunrise - a superb small hosta related to June. I have it planted there since 2012 - it is one of my favourites:. Slug-proof, sun-proof till 1:30 (my zone) fool-proof, lol. Lakeside Cup Cake should appear almost twice as large as the above pic I would guess.

Pretty petals , how exciting about peach silk ! Please keep us posted about it . My soulsister came from chamblees also but just last week so these are cheater buds :) thanks for the awesome Jim ! I Have to tell you I always look forward to your photos . Your garden reminds me of my in laws gardens and you are from my home state and the houses in your shot look like what I grew up near so your photos make me nostalgic for home :)

Painted Lady Butterflies Kaleidoscope

I live in Maple Grove near the intersection of 494 and 94. Where are you located? Heard on the news that the painted ladies are migrating south. They were here until evening. We are seeing a few monarchs. I sometimes see a few other butterflies, cabbage whites, surfers, fritillaries, skippers, admirals. Had several swallowtail butterflies earlier. They are fond of tiger lily blooms which I grow just for them. Didn't see any giant black swallowtails this year. How about you?
