You should be fine!!!! So long as it doesn't hit freezing.. We were down to the low to mid 30's* with no cover ..I got no tip burn at all.. I did cover the Squash and Tomatoes tho!! Don't panic.. If they are in pots and you feel the need to move them just put them by the house you should get some residual heat .. enough to keep ya safe.. Kylie

Where exactly are you located, as that would affect your degrees of chill, etc., etc.? I can't help planning the timing, except for a few suggestions - I assume you are buying bulbs, so get those that are listed as mid- to late-blooming - avoid the early-blooming ones. If you absolutely MUST have some variety listed as early, then I would keep them in the fridge for a month or so, so they, hopefully, bloom with the others. Some daffs "force" better than others, so I would try to stick with those varieties, which are usually listed as such. Whoever you talk to at the catalogue company should be able to help. As far as potting goes, I assume you want to replant these at your or your daughter's house, or give a pot to wedding guests who want one. In that case, do put a bulb fertilizer in the potting soil, so the bulb has food for the next year - the pots can be planted in the ground any time after blooming, but I would divide and separate the bulbs, not just plant them in the ground as they were in the pot, as they will become crowded very quickly. I wouldn't worry about the gravel in the bottom, unless you plan on putting them on top of pure clay - the pots will drain well enough wherever they are, and there will be more room for roots to grow without the gravel. Plant the bulbs in the pots so that the noses are just below the surface. You can dress the pots up with moss - Spanish or sheet, depending on how hard you want to work at it, as fitting the sheet moss around where the leaves will grow can be tricky - both are available in bags at Michaels or at a florist supply house - if using either, be prepared to check and adjust as the leaves grow, since they can force the moss aside or up as growth starts and goes on. If you don't do it at planting time, do this before the leaves or buds grow more than 5-6 inches, as otherwise it's too hard to place without breaking leaves or removing a bud. I would protect the top of the grouping with something as well - chicken wire? - as the grouping, leaves, etc. sound like an ideal habitat for mice or voles to spend the winter. Just be sure to start checking in Jan. and lift the wire up from leaves - it can be difficult to gently lift it off multiple sets of leaves - not to mention buds - without tearing some. And last, and what you have probably already thought of, but do keep checking on the moisture levels in the pots - you don't want to drown them, but totally dry would be bad also. As I am sure you know.....

What cathyyg said. Before I bought my MH I got a copy of the rules. I also found out the park ownership had changed hands about a year earlier and that most of the residents of our 38 home park thought the change was for the better. The prior park owner apparently never enforced the rules. The new owner immediately cracked down on two areas: yards and pets. There were several households who never cut the grass (or weeds), who had junk in their yards, old cars included. There were also people who had way too many pets (dogs and cats) and who allowed them the run of the neighborhood. I actually agree with the rules. The people who let their yards grow three foot high weeds and junk them up with debris and old vehicles are the people who give "trailer parks" a bad name. And the people who keep big numbers of cats and dogs and just let them run around unfettered through the community are being unfair to both their pets and to their neighbors. I've no doubt that you are a very responsible cat guardian, as am I. My cat is indoors only. The little dog Joy (my daughter) is getting in September will never be outside off the leash until we build an enclosed pet yard. Unfortunately, for every responsible pet guardian, there are five irresponsible ones. And we can't have one rule for responsible people and a different rule for irresponsible people. Enforcing the two pet rule is the only way to legally prevent irresponsible people from getting five dogs or multiple cats and allowing them to destroy other people's yards (and breed). Unfortunately, it hurts good people like you who rescue unwanted cats and give them loving forever homes. JMHO :-) To circle back around, I second Cathy's suggestion to get a copy of the rules for each park you're considering. Furthermore, I suggest you find out how rules can be changed and how they can be enforced. My state, Washington, has very strict laws in place that prevent MH owners from wily-nilly changing park rules and from unfair, draconian enforcement measures. You sound like a good person, someone whom I'd like as a neighbor. My cat is a rescue too, and so Joy's dog will be in September. I really hope you find a great park that will allow your cats to live with you in their forever home! :-) P.S. I rented an apartment back in 1988 that had a no pets rule. I asked why no cats? The manager told me the reason was not because they had problems with cats while the residents lived there. Rather, it was the high percentage of people who just abandoned their cats when they moved, creating a huge feral cat population. So sad what some people will do to these precious little beings who depend on them. :-(
