mosaic moments?

My daughter got me some mosaic like layout?Its black with small squares like?I have seen pictures with theses and they look like real nice? How do you do these/Do you cut them cut or lay it on top of the pictures and glue them down or what?What kind of glue would you use?and cutting them in a lot of squares seem like a hand full?Hope someone knows what I am talking about?

I'm not sure what you have. CM has square shaped punches that work great for punching uniform squares. To stick them to paper, you can use a glue stick, THey sell glue sticks for scrapbooking in the scrapbook section at stores, but I suspect a regular glue stick is the same thing. In place of glue, you can use photosticks that are little squares of double sided tape. I'd arrange the squares on the paper first and then put my picture down.

THey are 12x12 size overlays don't need to cut photos to fit they fit over your photos?I can see to put glue all around the edges but the line in between them how would you glue that down or would you? Thank you so much for answering my post. Swamp thing

Jenn, I loved reading about your mosaic experience. Nice to have someone totally honest about thier struggles. Having only had the experience of working with grout once (laid some tiles in a small entry way.) And remembering the wiping, and wiping, and wiping to get it off the tiles and only in the grout lines during that experience--I have been very reluctant to try doing mosaic projects of any kind. I think it'll be okay, this one was quite thick glass and the metal dohickey that holds it there(pole) is screwed into the base and so it ain't goin' no where! Can you take a pic and show us the light fixture? I just saw one at work that MAM OH MAN would I GOG that puppy!!! It's like 2ft wide and supper nice...but would never go in my house...it needs a big vaulted ceiling.

Is this it? If so-the first one is wheeled nippers, for glass or china to cut small pieces. On a piece of glass, place the wheels in the center of the line you wish to cut and squeeze. The second tool is a tile cutter, it has a small wheel. use the wheel to score a line on a plate,tile or shard, then flip them over and line up the score line in the center and squeeze-poof, broken plate or tile. The third are tile nippers, use them to nibble off pieces of shards, or to cuta shard into smaller pieces. Place the jaws at the EDGE of the shard, about 1/4 inch in and squeeze. Edges for glass mosaic backsplash - necessary?

I left the edges of my glass tiles exposed in both by master bathroom and the kitchen backsplash in my old house.The first time I did it I was worried it would look weird. But it looks great! Glass tiles don't have an "unfinished" edge like glazed ones do. Just grout that edge carefully, and run a bead of caulk along it, cleaning it up well so that all it does is fill in any grout lines that might be gapping in from the edges. One other thing.... Is it possible for you to remove the hood and tile up behind it? If not, make sure that you caulk the HECK out of the top edge where it meets the hood. I didn't pay close enough attention to that edge in my old house, and over the years, grease (from the air going up the hood) dripped down behind the tiles. Since they were translucent, you could see the stain, and it was impossible to clean.

I think I have a better idea of what you are talking about.

Another way to stick the photos would be to make an extra large mat to go behind them and then put photo sticks on the outside of the matted photo and stick it to the underside of the overlay. I wouldn't worry about gluing anything else down. I think it would preserve your picture better.

hello and you lost me here?I understand stick the photo's on a large matted paper but then you lost me?So, sorry I'm reading it again but still do not understand? What are photo sticks?Ok think I understand now? but I don't know where you were get photo sticks at?
