Oval Cutters? Anything out there worth buying?

I'm guessing this has been talked about before, but I'm in the market for an Oval Cutter. I already have a circle cutter that I love...but I'm not sure what to get as far as something for Ovals. I've seen the Fiskars cutters and they just look difficult to use. I don't have a CMC near me, and I've hear mixed reviews about their oval cutter too.

Anything on the market yet worth the effort? I don't know much about colluzzles....what exactly do they do and would that be worth it? I have some oval templates, but they just seem too flimsy to me.

OH YES!!!!! Creative Memories has a wonderful oval & circle cutter-you can buy them separately to together-I think the total cost for both is around 50.00, comes with the mat, and different size ovals & circles, 2 cutters! Its excellent!

I agree I love the CM circle/oval cutting system. Some don/t like them...but so far it is the easiest and fastest for me.

Wow! I never even come to this forum, but the topic interested me. You know how new posts come up on the side.... So you click... Tiles are really hard to get off intact. I know when this home was remodeled a year ago, I wanted to save one flower from the kitchen tile (master bath has the same tile) to take with me shopping for the master bath. I BEGGED the guys to do that. It was just impossible, or they were just trying to do the job to quickly. I ended up piecing one tile together for my decorating board. You may need a real expert to get those off intact. Good luck. They are really nice, but not my style. I bet someone would pay a lot for them.

CM new Oval Cutter-- how does it compare?

I don't have the CM oval cutter, but I've used it and I must say that I hate it. I wasn't comfortable with it AT ALL. My CMC told me that it took her many tries before she became comfortable with it too. I've never tried any other kind - I still just use templates and cut them out by hand. To me, it's easier than trying to fiddle with that awkward contraption CM came out with. Ok, here's what I don't like about it - I find that it's not a smooth "swing" around the arcs, it leaves sort of a lip around the edge of the picture, and it often leaves a little "hangnail" (for lack of a better word) where you meet up at the end with where you began. I wish they had figured otu a way to make an oval cutter just like their OLD circle cutter - I loved that thing!

That's a good tip, Izzy, but actually it was the narrow setting that I started out on! I was about to give up, then I tried the wider setting and it worked fine. Maybe I will just have to always make wide ovals. :) Joelle, I got mine at Wal-Mart for $17.96. I have heard that they have them at Michael's, and they are probably available at most places that sell Fiskars products. The blades are not the same ones that are used in the Fiskars circle cutter. At Wal-mart here, the replacement blades are $3.96 and come two in a package.

CM oval cutter - yuck yuck yuck!!

personally, I don't like it. I find it awkward to use, leaves a lip around the edge of the picture, and limits the sizes of the ovals. I'd love to see one made exactly like the old cm circle cutter - the arm that swings around the blade (does that make sense?). I just didn't like it but I'm told it takes a lot of getting used to.

I'm waiting for everyone's votes before I get mine, too. I use ovals the most and have seen a few different ones, but the opinions all seem mixed.
