Oval Cutters? Anything out there worth buying?

I'm guessing this has been talked about before, but I'm in the market for an Oval Cutter. I already have a circle cutter that I love...but I'm not sure what to get as far as something for Ovals. I've seen the Fiskars cutters and they just look difficult to use. I don't have a CMC near me, and I've hear mixed reviews about their oval cutter too.

Anything on the market yet worth the effort? I don't know much about colluzzles....what exactly do they do and would that be worth it? I have some oval templates, but they just seem too flimsy to me.

OH YES!!!!! Creative Memories has a wonderful oval & circle cutter-you can buy them separately to together-I think the total cost for both is around 50.00, comes with the mat, and different size ovals & circles, 2 cutters! Its excellent!

I agree I love the CM circle/oval cutting system. Some don/t like them...but so far it is the easiest and fastest for me.

Hi. Thank you. I looked at the pictures. Although the nuts look somewhat the same, the color is creamy white, and I would not describe these nuts as easy to crack. I think it was planted from a selection, from what I have read. These are good quality nuts and not terrible to remove from the shell. I really hate to lose this tree. It has fruit every year and not every other as the article states wild ones do.

I know this is old but if your still looking for the right thing to plant You might try hydrangas, tiny Japanese maple, a garden sculpture made of chicken wire with succulants, gardinas, cammillias and there is a beautiful Japanese holly that has sort of purpley leaves and berries (sorry not sure of the name) that might also work, there were some great ideas on this tread so hopefully something will work, I also have an entire back yard very shady some intense shade and some filtered, just b sure you have the soil amended and water and fertilize correctly, because I have figured out that that can go along ways in getting a plant that might not work in certain spots to cooperate with you and be happy

Hi Donna, alisande was thinking right up my street! I know that Christie's and Sotheby's will do evaluations by post (with photos and their Request form which I think you can print from on line). Christie's did my Asian valuations but I had so much they had to come to me. Burning the images to disc for them works too. I am actually partial to Heritage Auction Galleries in Dallas, TX. but again, Skinner is really good too. And calliope is right. It is SO difficult to find people with real knowledge as forgeries (and even innocent reproductions) are so prevalent. I would stick to a bigger reputable auction house. B

Good to see you Jim, I think it's been a while? I do like Spaetzle, in fact I made it last week to go with Schnitzel. I own the device you linked (or one that looks identical; it's got not no brand markings on it) but never had much luck with it. Perhaps my batter is too thick. So last week I had a thought and used a potato ricer with has two disks, the larger of which has 3/16" holes. Couldn't have been easier. Funny thing is I hate that potato ricer as a potato ricer because the disks don't lock in place and they stick to the potato making it a general nuisance, but it worked great for Spaetzle. If I do shop I'll pay special attention to the mustards. I have several different mustards in the fridge, but would consider the imported Duesseldorf style mustard my "house mustard."

CM oval cutter - yuck yuck yuck!!

personally, I don't like it. I find it awkward to use, leaves a lip around the edge of the picture, and limits the sizes of the ovals. I'd love to see one made exactly like the old cm circle cutter - the arm that swings around the blade (does that make sense?). I just didn't like it but I'm told it takes a lot of getting used to.

I'm waiting for everyone's votes before I get mine, too. I use ovals the most and have seen a few different ones, but the opinions all seem mixed.
