I just moved back to Long Island from Philly. I worked at an Aquarium Supercenter which got its roots from Big Als. I'm dying to find a comparable place in the area. I checked out Total Aquariums in Lynbrook and was disappointed with the size and product stock. The livestock was pretty nice however, a large variety but crammed in a very small space. Parrots of the World in Rockville Centre has a decent selection but their tanks always seem to have some sort of disease process flowing throughout the system. Plus, the kids they have working their don't seem to know much. The manager and the owner of the store are very knowledgeable however... you just have to catch them instead of the kids in the back. So basically I'm looking for a place in Nassau County (or a place in Suffolk that packs with 02 and is worth the gas money). Also, are there any places around here that sell live food such as Black Worms or Brine Shrimp? I haven't found any yet. Thanks a million... My fish thank you too!

I have lots and lots of bindweed all in my pachysandra and have come up with a solution to killing it without killing the pachysandra. I do use round up on the foam spray setting. First I gather up as many strands as I can in one clump andI put in into a slit in paper plate that I have cut one slit to the middle. It opens easily to put the bindweed on the plate . Then I spray it on the plate carefully using the foam setting. When dry I remove the plate and leave the weed for several weeks so it can get dead to the root. I will also try this on creeping Charlie. I have also used canes for the bindweed to crawl up and also tried putting a clump in a Baggie and the spray inside bag with roundup. That works but the paper plate is so much easier.Hope this helps someone else. I feel like I am going to get control after several years and hundreds or thousands of these vines!! lenette

The first thing I would do is get a counter depth fridge in that small space and since the space is tiny I think the same as the walls could be a good idea. I certainly would not have done black appliances and with the new cabinet color they will even be more of an issue so think a lot about this change.

Oak floor.....and the statement about vinegar "wearing away the finish" depends on the finish. shellac probably will...solvent based poly won't be harmed by a weak vinegar solution and it will remove some dirt. I have lived with wood floors all my life. Varnish and paste wax when I was a kid, Had Bruce prefinished floors in the first house which had to be paste waxed every 6 months....and one drop of water left too long left a black mark....then on to oak with a shellac finish which wore easily....and finally to oil based poly. best yet! Oh and i am talking about a long time frame, I am 84.
