Wood Album Cover

Help! I have a wooden album cover that I want to paint something on for my brother and his wife. My SIL is very jealous of my painting ability but my brother is one of my biggest fans so I'm choosing to make him happy. This will be a memory book starting from his childhood to the birth of their first child.....any suggestions on what to put on the cover?

Dear Cindy,
I would have suggested for you to paint one of his favorite hobbies on the cover, but if the book is supposed to be a joint gift for both him and his wife, then it should be a joint cover. If it is just for him then I would go with what he likes. Of course this may make her mad, if she already feels jaded by your talents, then the care the book receives AFTER it get to their home, in her care may suffer because of it, so I would choose carefully. Perhaps a collage of items, a boys trike, a new car, wedding bands intertwined with her name in one, and his inside the other, a baby cradle, place one of these items in each corner, with his last name in the middle section of the book. That way you would be including her on the cover, in the form of the wedding bands, so she might take better care of the book later. She may even like it so much she asks you to help her learn how to paint. Then you will have made a better friend of her, and in turn get to spend more peaceful visits with your brother and his wife. THANK YOU! This looks like something that would do it although I'm not understanding how the gadget plugs into the two ports at the back of the old Panasonic (perhaps it just needs another cord with the red and white plugs at each end). I also did more web searching and came up with the Ion u-Record Music Archiver at Think Geek I'm not sure how it works...as it too just seems to connect the computer with the old music outfit, but this one seems to need software installed and I'm wondering if it is for more complex stuff than I'm trying to do. Has anyone used this? As I said before, I'm not very computer savvy (I'm from the old LP era) and appreciate being able to do this without a lot of frills and hassles. The bad part of the old magnetic albums could very easliy be both the plastic and the glue, as depending on the kind of plastic it is, it also contains acid, which most of the old style albums did. As far as tips for removing your photos, dental floss is supposed to be great, by running it underneath your photo back and forth, it helps to remove the photo. There is also a product called undo which is available at walmart amoung other places that is safe to use on the backs of your photos. As for the acid free spray it is called "Archival Mist" and is available at most craft stores (Michael's, Hobby Lobby, etc., it is kinda pricey so use a store coupon when possible purchasing it. It is well worth the $$ and lasts for a long time. If you want to use the orginial newspaper clipping try mounting it on the oppisite page as your photos, that way the acid will not affect your photos. Love Penny
