My first thought was to paint it when I saw the pics but since you have the peachy tiles, I would keep it as is.
Even the toilet is pink? If you can, buy some peel-n-stick vinyl tiles to cover your current floor.

Thanks, ML! I obviously need to do some touch-up painting on my wall where I overshot my painter's tape. I didn't realize that showed in the pics until I came back to look.

I do have plans to hit HD for a couple of sample tiles this week and will be putting down some new tile. The gray in the bedroom was the previous owner's "contribution" to home decor, so that's NOT what's going on the floor.

The toilet isn't pink, it's more of a peachy color, similar to the veins in the faux marble. And, thank you for the validation...hubby and I argued for two years about painting over the laminate. ;)

I know of ladies that painted their kitchen counters and they've lasted. I'm not sure how they did it. I'm guessing a few coats of polyurethane to protect it from water damage and scratches.

As for the future make sure whenever you go to HD or Lowes to check if they have any vanity tops on clearance in the size you need. Both have had great deals on them now and then around here. Sometimes just because of an open box.

If you are handy you could also uncaulk and remove the sink and add ceramice tiles over the existing counter, then reinstall the current sink.

You sure made a great difference already by painting the base of your vanity. It looks amazing. For added detail you can always add a fram type trim to the doors and paint them to match.

It looks much better already. Depending on how long you anticipate you'll be using this vanity before replacing it, I'd suggest changing out the knobs for some nickel ones and caulking around the sink. Painting the vanity top would also make it look better, but I'd rather see you save your pennies for a new vanity/counter/sink. They sell these standard sized vanity tops--some with an integrated sink that are not too expensive.

justgotabeme, I once painted the counters in an old trailer with green rustoleum paint and they lasted for the next year that I lived there. I used black rustoleum for the bottom of this vanity, after using a sanding block to knock the top layer of sheen off the laminate and then washing the vanity down well.

I really like the idea of adding some trim to the doors! I'm betting I could find some wood in the garage for that.

I really don't want to spend money on tile right now, although tiling around/under that sink is a great idea! :) I took the $20 for this project out of my "bathroom kitty" and I really want to purchase a new vanity for this bathroom eventually.

Your vanity looks **exactly** like the one in my old bathroom! I painted it! I sanded the countertop, primed with a BIN product, and then put two coats of an oil based paint that the paint dept guy recommended, and it held up for 5 yrs before chipping. I wish I had a picture to show you but it's on my old computer (exDH has it). I'll try to get a picture for you. It made a world of difference. I painted mine cream.

Val! I wish I'd have found a pic of yours before I painted mine! :) It would have saved me two years of telling DH "Of course it will work!"

He's happy with it now, but it took some doing. And, I'd still love to see the picture of yours because I am really wondering if painting the countertop would make the sink look dirty.

I don't think there is anything wrong with your sink. What color is it? what color did you paint the vanity, brown or black-I can't tell.

The sink is a peach/tan and the vanity is black. I'm sorry is this is posting more than once, GW keeps telling me my message is rejected.

Lissa, all you have to do when you post a second or third or however many more times in the thread is to either change the subject name or like I do add a period somewhere. I hate that part of posting here.
