I found Fiskars A B C confetti at our favorite Dollar Tree. I haven't tried it yet but thought I might add some to my introductory (can't think of a better word) page in my ABC book. Hey, Penny, I quit my job - look for something in the mail later this week.

Are they safe to use? (Acid-free, I mean?)

It would be great fun to try it. I used to use a lot of hole punch dots on other projects before I even heard of scrapbooking and found that using a glue stick worked great. (I don't know if they all are, but the glue sticks I use are photo-safe, etc.) With just the natural moisture from my finger I would stick one on the end of my finger, swipe it across the end of the glue stick and stick it to the page in a less than a second. That might help the time-consuming part of it.

As far as acid free goes, to tell the truth I am not sure, but since I don't actually put the confetti on the photo's and buffer (this means that I have place an acid free paper between it and another item) them on the acid free paper, then they should be okay. Bonny, I have never seen the A, B, C, confetti, I will have to keep an eye out for it. I have tons of it for weddings, birthdays, it's a boy or girl, praying hands, crosses, if you can send a card for it then I probably have confetti to match. I got most of it at a card outlet shop. My only complaint with the stuff is that it is all mixed together, when you buy it, and it takes hours of sorting to get it organized. (Of course this step is not necessary but I separate it and put each type in a fishing lure, or thread box, it is easier to find when I need it that way. I don't do this with the REALLY tiny pieces.) I used this type of confetti in an "old fashioned" album, and the color bled ALL over the page. I am gun shy about trying it in my nice books. It would be a shame to spend all the time and expense on a great page just to have the color bleed and ruin all my work. Sorry to sound negative about the idea, but I didn't have a good experience. It took about 2 years to show up....

Sorry about your experience, and thanks for the info. I would think though that the reason for your bad experience was the type of mounting glue used in the old magnetic type of albums, which probably caused a mostiure/acid problem. Our scrapbooks today are kept in a dry/better weather location which helps better to control the moisture problems and the glues used are different, but I will keep this in mind and do some water/glue tests myself just to be sure, and safe. Also the bleed problem would not be an issue for the confetti that started out that color, for example I have some made into the shapes of a bride and groom and the confetti was black or white from the start and the color was added when the metal/plastic was made and not afterwards. As for the pages I have already done, where I mounted the confetti, it has no way of getting on the pictures themselves even if is should bleed, as I did not mount it even close to the same frames as my photos. Thanks for your input, though I like it when someone has had a different experience than me and I can learn from it. Penny

I'm sure it was from the glue in the books. I'm still scared, but I think the confetti looks so good. I'm sure the buffer paper will help just in case. I just don't want someone's book to be ruined. Mine doesn't matter though, because I am (slowly) going through all my old books to take the pictures out of the old albums and put them in new ones.
