I just had a glazed porcelain tile put in and the GC was asking what kind of sealer finish we wanted. I was definitely going to go with the matte, but you are saying we shouldn't do a sealer at all? The only place you should use a sealer, if at all, would be on the grout. There is no "pro" to using it on a galzed tile, and the con is that I've already discussed what happens with a finish sealer. As for a penetrating sealer, it won't penetrate a glaze, and so it dries on top of the tile into a nice white haze that's hell to get off. No sealer on the tile.

Well doesn't that suck? Apologies should be given by people who believe they've done something wrong. I said what I meant and I retain the same opinion. I've reconsidered the decision to ditch the forum altogether, but I still strongly disagree with the change of attitude exhibited by the majority here. Truth be told I think it's a change of population, since I don't recognize many of the names I'm seeing. Either way, I'm not sorry for wanting this forum to be informative on electrical theory and practice rather than law. The ONLY reason I am still here is to try to be that person - to provide information to people who would otherwise be flooded with "forget it, you can't legally do that" or "I don't want to explain it, so I'll tell you it's difficult and you need an electrician." If my entire purpose for being here is to be that person, how can I possibly feel bad for wanting such people to exist? Of course, in modern society, false "apologies" are often given just to keep peace - so if that's what you're looking for: I'm sorry for wanting myself to exist.

Thank you. That makes sense and the multi-point on the 2nd door does sound like what I'm wanting. As it turns out the multi-point lock this manufacturer uses, won't work on the secondary door. I guess all locks are not created equal and this particular one doesn't bolt into the head jamb and threshold. Regardless, you help me better communicate my needs to the manufacturer.

Probably not. Its not thick enough, and tile also doesnt have the adhesion that brick would have. Tile should be primed with a special primer and painted with a special paint, and I dont have any idea, how you would get it to look like what you really want. German Schmear is a mortar type product, and if you try to put that on unprimered tile, it will soon just fall off. A paint wash would work temporarily, but, eventually, it would just wash off the tile too, without a full coat of special type primer. Primer would sort of defeat the purpose for the type of finish that you want.
