I want a FAST computer. I'm not into games, music, or videos. Although watching TV, or a DVD would be nice. #1 NEED is to wisk around the web quickly (have NO patience!).- I may be running a website/business. That is not controlled by the computer, it's controlled by the connection you have. You need DSL or "business quality" cable connections. Normal household cable is shared with everyone on the block and it can be very slow. If you plan to run a website/business, I strongly recommend you just pay a few $$ a month for website hosting - siteground.com is a good one with lots of free tools and templates - because setting one up from scratch is a technical nightmare and your thinking a fast CPU = fast internet indicates that you aren't geekish enough to do it. *********** Any computer currently on the market is enough for web, office stuff and viewing DVDs. Buy the cheapest one you can find and pay extra for more RAM (lots more RAM) and a good graphics card.

urraca- I see you live in Spain, so I don't know if it is the same for you as it is for me. I don't have Internet access on my phone. However, after I take a picture, I can immediately send it in a message, or store it and send it later. When I want to send it, I have two options on the menu: send to a cell phone number, or to an email address. Hopefully, it's the same with your phone. Good luck.

Since your son is getting a laptop I would go with a wireless network. It sounds complicated but its really not. I just bought a Toshiba A135 laptop (449.0 after rebate) and it came with a wireless card. All you need from there is something like a Netgear wireless router. Mine cost about 100.00. I have seen some units on sale for less than that. When the laptop is opened anywhere in the house it is on line. networker

I'm checking in from the library again. DD is coming up soon, and we're going to go buy me a new one. Not sure what yet, but I hope to get the XP also. I don't want to get Vista. One thing I'd like to say. DO NOT buy anything from Best Buy. First of all, they've had mine since the 2nd of June, to fix it. I've called and inquired about what was wrong, and how long it'd be before I'd get it back. They just sent it down to Kentucky on the 16th or 18th (I can't remember what they said. I had to much smoke coming from my ears to hear). Anyway, over 2 weeks. I told them "Don't fix it, just send it back and I'll buy a new one." Their matainence agreements suck too. When I had the Geek Squad out before to fix something, it took 3 or 4 visits to my house. 1st part didn't fix it, so they had to order another part. That didn't fix it either, so they had to order another part. Always a 2 week wait in between calls. I was haunting the library then too. Now DD's new laptop (she got it at Christmas time) is in their shop. All her school notes etc. are in it, and she can't get at them to do her homework. She's hot too. And frustrated.
