scanning 12'x12' album pages

Has somebody a tip to scan properly 12"x12" pages with a standart scanner to put on the web? I tried to scan twice half a page, but it is difficult then to have them match on display. Does somedy know a photo software able to do that ? or a specific way to display them on the page ?

The only way I know of getting the 12x12 pages on the web is making a color copy of it first - reducing the image at the same time. Then it fits on a standard scanner. Good Luck.

Joelle, thanks for asking this question. I have been wandering this very same thing. I have a Family web site that I use to keep in touch with relatives out of state. I post recent pics of the kids and what they have been doing in school, scouts, etc. I would like to post them as memory pages but like you said, it is too hard to try and scan half at a time and then try and match them up.

Hillary, I had not thought about making a color copy and reducing the size. Thanks!

For me it depends. I like to do double page layouts but if I only have 3 pictures of something I don't. I don't worry about it. Thought sometimes its hard to make it turn out right if I want things in a certain sequence. Almost all of my heritage album layouts are double page with the same background paper on both pages. have fun kathy

YIKES!! (LOL) Where to start! :) I love the old fashioned scrapbooks where things are glued in etc. But, with all the talk of acid in the papers and glues destroying the photos over time, I have opted for the Creative Memories albums and supplies. I think it would be wonderful to share ideas, pictures etc with everyone who is working on the same theme. It would also be great for everyone to post their favourite scrapbooking sites here. There are soooo many of them, that it would be nice to know which ones people have found useful. Creative Memories is an American company that sells (through home parties)Scrapbooking supplies. They are expensive but from my point of view, well worth the money. They sell different sizes of albums all with acid free, buffered pages, acid free photo mounting papers, adhesives, acid free stickers and die cuts for decorating your pages, and all the tools you could imagine...scissors, rulers, templates etc...does that help? Just thought, maybe I should introduce myself..I am in Ontario, Canada, have been scrapbooking for about 6 years, am a "retired" (ha ha) Creative Memories consultant, and am working on my 7th album. (Have two sons, 9 and 5) When I first started to scrapbook, I only used Creative Memories products and was careful what I put in my albums, making sure they were acid free etc. However, in the last little while, I have found that that really isn't my "style" I have started to add all kinds of things..pressed flowers, memorabilia, lots of things, that really remind me of the old fashioned type of scrapbooks. I totally agree, Carrie! Mini gift albums are SO FUN to make! I kept hearing about them and seeing them at Michael's but didn't give them too much thought. But Christmas came around and the idea became just too cool as personal and unique gift. I'm so glad I finally decided to try and make one. I found that the little pages aren't limiting at all -- you're right, Carrie, you can do so much with them! I made a gift album for my df (link below) using all my "leftover" pictures -- I was at a loss with what to do with them. It was sooooo QUICK and easy to make. Feeling stupid and confused re:12 x 12 copies.

Jill, you have to scan one half of the 12x12 page then scan the other half. Then you can "stitch" the pages back together with what ever software you use to edit what you scan. I do this so I can post some of my 12x12 pages on my web page. I use PhotoImpact and it has the "stitch" feature, the only this is, when I stitch mine together it leaves a light shadow. If anyone one knows how to do this without it having the shadow I would love to hear from you. Hope this has helped.

I do this all the time. The secret is to use a software program that has a "stitch" feature. One of my scanners came with a NewSoft Presto! software package that works great. You just scan the two sides of the page (in preview scan, pick a point on the page where the two sides will meet, just slightly overlapped)and open both at the same time in the Stitch window. You indicate which is the right and which is the left side. The software then positions a little box at the edge of the left side and you drag the image in that box over to the right side and line it up and click - the two sides will be joined at that alignment.

Another software package that came with my Epson Digital Camera just has you drag and drop files side by side into a grid and it will do all of the pattern matching automatically. It is really designed to merge photographs into panoramic views, but works on any .JPG file. It's calle ImageExpert.

My "stitched" files are all I used on my scrapbook website

Thank you Sue for your informations. In fact, I spent almost the whole day today, trying with PhotoFinish, and finally I found the way to do. There is not a "stich" feature, (or I didn't find it), but I managed to do what I wanted to. Maybe it is less neat than on your pages, but it 's hundred times better that what I did before.
Wow to your site, it is great. I am working on improving mine, because the pictures don't satisfy me and I think the nex release will be on line under a couple of days.
