I promise...!! Use a Purdy White-Dove 3/8" nap, and you're set for a beautiful finish!! * Let the roller "soak-in" the paint for a couple minutes after the normal "loading". * Lightly roll off the excess. * Do another light loading, and let sit another couple minutes. >>> This only applies to the initial loading!! * Properly loaded, you should be able to walk around the house with a full roller, and not drip a bit! * Densely woven rollers like this take a while to soak paint all the way in. * You want the paint to be evenly "pressed out from within" the fabric...NOT just thinly rolled off the "top" of the fabric, which leads to thin, uneven coverage. * 3/8" rollers are usually best on orange-peel. Hi Paintguy, Thanks for answering my post. The story has an interesting outcome. I am using the Purdy roller (and everything else- love their stuff) and was no getting lines, as much as little balls of silt-like material which made a terrible texture. I called Coronado and they were wonderful. It seems somewhere in transit or storage the paint had been exposed to freezing temps and made those little textured balls in the paint, which made the bad texture. I bought another gallon for my next room, because I love their neutrals and love the velvety finish, and had no problems. BUT I did learn a lot from your post about painting heavy enough, and it really shows in my latest room. Thanks so much!

Keep sanding...OR...have the wall skim-coated to smooth. Re-skimming NOW is a GREAT time to do it since wall is primed! A good skim-job can add value to the home if it's done well. You'll have to re-prime, but now you can use a Latex primer! Faron

If you are using acrylic paint, it's very hard if not impossible to brush out a door, or any large surface, and have it come out looking good. You should either roll the door and leave it or roll the door and brush out the rolled paint. Modern day paints just dry too fast. Aura is a good product for rolling and the Aura extender you can buy to increase the open time is also good. Regal is not really a good product for rolling...it does not self level as good as the Aura. Also, this does take practice. DIY'ers and homeowner painters have 2 tendencies. They do not put enough paint on and they overwork the paint. The key to getting paint to look good is to put the paint on heavy and then leave it. After 15 second have passed, do not go back into an area that you have already painted. Try a 4" Wooster Pro Dooz sleeve, 3/8" nap or even 1/4" if you are afraid that 3/8" is too big. The pros always tend to use bigger naps than the homeowners. Try not to get frustrated...painting these days is hard! This is why I try to spray as much as I can.
