I LOVE my xyron 1200. I use the acid free adhesive cartridge for scrapping.

I am not for sure if the ink is acid free from my computer, that is something I really never thought of....But the printer paper I buy is acid free.....If someone finds out about the ink please let us know....:0)

Almost ALL computer ink is acid free, some printer paper is acid free but no all of it. It is best to check it with an acid testing pen, if the label doesn't say acid free. Penny

Funny you should ask about the Xyron machine. I just received one last night for my birthday - haven't even gotten it out of the box yet. It's an 850! Would love to hear how you use yours for scrapbooking (or any other use). I'm excited but don't know where to start. Please post all of your creative efforts/ideas re: the Xyron. TIA

What's the difference between the Xyron 850 and 1200? I am thinking about getting one. Thanks, Cindy.

1200 will take paper up to 12" widths. the 850 up to 8 1/2" widths.

I just bought a Xyron 850 this weekend. The only difference that I know of between the 850 and 1200 is the size. The 850 holds up to 8.5 x 11 size items and the 1200 12x12 items. It came with two cartridges - one for laminating and one for adhesive. I'm going to use mine mostly for the adhesive cartridge to use with my scrapbooking.

I would love to have the xyron 1200. Although I was wondering if there is a lot of waste with the cartidges. Every time I see it used on QVC or a craft show they waste so much, and at that price I'm not sure. Also I would have alot of convincing to do with my husband. He says he'll buy me all the glue sticks I need! He usually doesn't care what I buy if I really want it, but the xyron seems to be another story. Back to your original ? I also have asked about the ink. I was told it is not acid free, and that it will fade. I am reluctant to use the computer in scrapbooking, and there are so many great things to do with it.

Here is an article from Graceful Bee. I recently read another article (caffine has failed; can't remeber where!) where the author was saying how disappointed she was when she went to show a friend the layout she did a few months (6 or less) before and the ink had faded considerably.

My husband gave me my Xyron 850 for Christmas. I love it! At the time they were having a special... when purchasing the 850, you got the 500 sticker maker, free. (We gave the 500 to our daughter who is also into scrapbooking.) Otherwise I would have gone with the 1200, I think. I am a teacher and have used it for making books and materials for class. I don't know if it's the teacher in me and years of experience with using every inch of laminating, but I don't have much waste at all. Since it has a hand crank, you have great control over the speed in which materials go through the machine. You can place items close together to prevent the waste you were referring to. If you want tiny punches as stickers or laminated, put a whole sheet of paper through the machine and then punch your punches. My husband was also hesitant when I showed him the machine for the first time but now he sees how many uses I have for it and is glad he made the purchase.
