I wonder if we have discussed all the money saving ideas there are.....this forum seems to be on a sleep mode...anyone receiving? Just wondering if anyone checks in anymore...I know a few of us do. Hello hello...anyone there?

I check in periodically, but this is a quiet forum compared to many of them out there. Maybe people are too busy spending money to save it? :-)

My first suggestion would be to find a plant-sitter lol :) However, since that isn't fesable, how are you traveling? If it's by car, you could possibly start some seedlings about 4 weeks or so before you go, and take them with you, that way they would be ready to plant by the time you got back. (for veggies, you would have to make sure that they would have enough time to ripen before your first frost.) You can also sometimes find plants already growing (vegitables and flowers) at nursurys and places like Home Depot and Lowes. In fact, the Lowes near me already has plants lioke broccoli and cauliflower ready to be planted. You could ask around and find out what they plan to have avalable in mid june. They will be more expensive that way of course, but if the alternative is having nothing, I personally would go ahead and pay the extra lol. Barring that, I really don't know. (I'm fairly new at this too!) You might ask in the vegitable forum about fast-growing veggies.

You folks are trying to reel in another victim, aren't you? Same thing happened to me a few winters ago. Right now I am having seedlings coming out of my ears and I cannot plant them out fast enough. The weather is not cooperating either. It turned so hot so fast those babies are growing like mad until the roots are bound together. Whine..whine..whine...:-P Welcome to the mad house, Steph. If you still need more seeds, check back in fall. I will have plenty. In fact, I have a lot of plants to share, but it's too hot now to ship them out. I can ship plants for postage in fall, if you are interested. :-)

I check in often but been busy with gardening and kids actiivites to spend any money...:(...Bought lots of seeds this year hoping that I'll get lots of seeds from them after they're done blooming. Should be able to save lots of moola that way!!! :)

I check every so often but not much going on here. Still trying to save money, especially now that I have a house payment.

I have a "house payment" as well ...

... (a four-letter word) called "rent".

Wondered a few years ago whether I should by a home, but wasn't sure how long I'd want to stay.

In 15 years - about $70,000. in rent, more or less.

$70,000?!!! Joyful, that's a lot of money for a rental. I guess that's one reason I bought. Got tired of giving my landlord all that money and not being able to do what I wanted with the house. I saw my old rental house in the paper today. They've put in central air and recarpted...now asking $50 more a month than I was paying.
