Shawlin, That happened to us, except it was on a 10 hour trip and we were about halfway there before it started, and it was during a Christmas holiday. We had to stop at a gas station after our toddler had thrown up yet again, but this time it was on her pillow... she was trying to keep the puke from dropping off the pillow, but then we hit a bump and SPLAT! Now she was covered in puke, it was dripping off her hair. Hubby asked the gas station attendants to bring out the hose and while he sprayed down her car seat, I took her into the bathroom and tried to wash her hair in a gas station bathroom sink... you know the kind where the faucet is really short and the sink is small? By the time I came out of the restroom the nice gas station employees had coned off the area with yellow caution tape. I felt SO BAD for the mess, I was apologizing profusely, and they were SO NICE. I can't even recall what state we were in by then... it was a nightmare. During the family reunion, there were about 20 of us, and only me and one of my sister in laws stayed healthy through the whole reunion (we weren't the only family who came in sick) and we spent the every day cleaning with bleach. LOL! We actually all have a lot of great memories from that trip though... we can all laugh about it now.

We had the pies for Thanksgiving last night. I used Truvia and Bob's Red Mill one to one gluten-free flour. Everyone at the table would eat it again. No one thought they were missing out on anything?! So it was gluten free and diabetic friendly, and everybody was happy, even if they didn't need the substitutions. https://preppykitchen.com/strawberry-rhubarb-pie/ I realize it's not in season, but our guest wanted strawberry rhubarb pie. Can't imagine how much better it would be when the filling was in season? It was pretty good!

Be careful, porkandham, I passed out while donating blood and ended up with a heart stent, it's not always as simple as it seems. I'm late, but we didn't have our Thanksgiving until last week because of work schedules. I do have special Thanksgiving plates which I always use, but this year it was disposables to save me work while I was recuperating. I did use a few for serving, though: We had a charcuterie tray so I could use the tray Bud made for me, here it is empty: He made barns and tractors and farm stuff just for me. IT was originally meant to be a cutting board, but I didn't want to cut it up so he added handles and it became a tray. The smallest Princesses pitched in and decorated the Death by Chocolate with a Thanksgiving turkey: I made a pumpkin pie and a cushaw pie: Pane Bianco along with my Grandma's dinner rolls because the Pane Bianco doesn't make great turkey sandwiches because of the sometimes empty center where the cheese melts out, but the kids love it with Makayla's macaroni and cheese, which I did not get a picture of. We had the turkey and ham, two kinds of stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, cranberry relish, green beans, all the usual suspects and I didn't get a picture of any of it. Onward to Christmas! Annie

Thanks everyone for your well wishes. I just tested positive for COVID! This is the first time I have ever had it. I got boosted a month ago, I am a religious hand washer, and I wear an N-95 in public. After 5 years of masking, my husband and I decided to in the last month to be slightly more lax about it. We've eaten in some non-crowded restaurants and I have been unmasking to eat in the staff lunch area where I volunteer at a refugee legal project. I guess those tiny risks made a difference. It took 4.5 hours for my doctor's on-call doc to call me back. They ordered paxlovid for me. I'm right at the five day window. Goes to show that testing twice is useful. I tested on Tuesday and no covid. Tested positive on Thursday.
