Hey Hans Down here in SE Louisiana our Hippeastrum continue in a vegetation state year-round. I thought the HWT would give me a better start in eradicating the mites since, I recieved stock from several locations around the U.S. and Holland. My plan was to build an improved "boiler" loosely based on an article by Dave Karnstedt. But, if the general consensus is that the chemical treatment is just as effective, I will instead, rely on rotating between the above mentioned miticides while they are still in pots. I fear some of the bulbs were probably infested and, wanted to treat the plants prior to removing them from pots and planting them outdoors. My objective was to kill the mites before they infected my garden area. We have no idea where this new Hippeastrum bed will be since, the government has not yet informed me as to whether or not they are going to allow me to rebuild my house or, if I must relocate to higher ground. If any of my bulbs have already developed "Red Blotch" as a result of damage inflicted by the "tarsonermid" mite, are they beyond rescue?

Ahhhh, thanks for the encouraging words, Denise. Yip, thats them. I went the el cheapo route, I used a heating pad (used for sore muscles)instead of buying a heat mat. I just had a thought, if this works, I could have a *bunch* of BIG jars sitting around instead of small solo cups. . .YIKES! (shaking head to erase the thought) It's actually a side table, I have a smaller one too. I got them @ Ross for $14.00. I've had them for awhile, but never noticed the design. I did get a really nice bakers rack from there too. It's in my BR. I like it b/c the sun shines thru the shelves, and it's easy to clean. All 5 shelves are full of hoyas :) Maid~

Our grout color is "natural gray" from Lowe's because it's what we used on our floors. For switch plates we used ORB. For the ends we just grouted it in, no caps or anything. Here's a pic of my switch plates. They were special order at Lowe's and go very nicely with our ORB hardware and faucet. Igiori, thanks! Yeah, he's my towel pig. We just keep a towel on him all the time. He's a happy little guy. My kids sing the "towel pig" song, if you've seen the Simpson movie it's the "spider pig" song. Again, can't take credit for him, saw him in another kitchen on this forum and since I collect pigs, I had to find him. I was lucky to find the exact same one she had.

LOL I was just thinking about asking you the same thing! I made close to $50, friend made $138.00, I think. (She sold a portable tv! LOL) It was pretty busy but a lot of lookers and fewer buyers. I messed up and didn't put the directions ot my house in the ad - just the address and I think that hurt us. Several people said that they had almost given up on finding us. Plus, friend's DH put a sign up at the end of one of the streets and had the arrow going in the wrong direction! LOL I got rid of a LOT of stuff and friend did, too. Was hoping to sell a display cabinet and a treadmill. A couple of people came in and looked at the treadmill, took down my number and didn't hear from either of them. I'm not gonna GIVE it away! LOL (well, unless it's to one of the kids! LOL) Isn't it a nice feeling to lessen the load a little? I've got two boxes of stuff to go back in the basement and we took a truck load to the thrift store for a donation. Several items of clothing we donated to Help & Hope. Thanks for asking! You tired? LOL
