What do you think of this wallpaper for DR?

I was thinking of wallpapering the accent wall at the head of my DR table, so as to better hide the misplaced light fixture boxes. Of course I'd have to pull power off the wires and mud over the holes if I were to "bury" them behind wallpaper instead of just hanging pictures over them.

But what do you think of this

With my drapes (not on the same wall but one panel will be close to the corner) - drape material over Roman

Or maybe it would be better in my tiny (3x6) PR? Just not sure how it would look with my "rustic" (future) vanity

With bowl I was thinking of drilling out for sink

Light fixture on top just checking for size of sink but it shows more of the front of the washstand

I'm sorry, but I can't see the green wallpaper with the blue and peach(?) window treatments at all. But with all of the wallpapers out there, you're sure to find one that looks great.

I agree with my3dogs. You would have a pink patterned shade, a blue patterned drape, and a green patterned wallpaper. There is nothing to tie them all together.

When I am blending things to together in a room, I imagine how they would look as articles of clothing. If I would not wear them as a blouse, skirt and jacket, they are not likely to do well in my room together either.

Zoe: We have sold homes in several states and sold very quickly. The one thing we do is have every thing in tip top shape and very clean and all walls painted in neutrals. It is so much easier to imagine your own furniture in a house that is neutral. We also remove anything personal such as family pictures and pare down to no more "stuff" than a model home would have, even if you have to put things in storage. One of our homes had a blue room (from a previous owner) that we hadn't repainted in a public area and a master in the same funny blue. We had only been there a year and hadn't repainted, so we just listed as it was. We had numerous showings, but no offers. We also had a horrible realtor, but a great one in the city we were moving to. One day the out-of-town realtor called and had me walk her thru the house verbally as she felt something was wrong inside if we were getting that many showings and no offer. When she heard about the blue rooms, she immediately said get them painted neutral. I was surprised that anyone couldn't visualize the room painted in another color. She said the couples today are both working, don't have the time to paint, don't want to spend the money and many can't visualize the room repainted. Long story short: we repainted in a neutral and sold the house within the week at our asking price. Was it the paint? I can't say for sure, but when I want to move/sell, I'm willing to put in the effort up front and be done with it. I don't like having to get up every morning and make my house look like a model home any longer than necessary. I would paint your DR above and below the chair rail in a neutral. Below could be a darker neutral on the same paint card. I would strip the wallpaper everywhere and paint all rooms in a neutral. I would get rid of the valances, also. Hope it sells quickly!

My first thought when I saw the photo was wondering how accurate the ceiling color is, based on the nearby window -- we don't know if it's north-facing, what time of day the photo was taken etc. And it's a high gloss finish. According to the ID, https://www.instagram.com/p/CFfJZ6eJqza/ the paint color is BM Buckland Blue, which is much more similar to the lamp color than the way the paint color appears in the photo, at least on my screen, Buckland Blue is also warmer in real life than the way the color looks on the ceiling, as a cooler grey tone. It's interesting that this is area isn't an actual room, but the back staircase. I *love* the wallpaper in the Writer's Lair room, and the Mark Sikes living room (though I don't like the baby blue upholstered furniture, rug, and curtains Sikes chose). carol, from the pre-reno photos, it looks like everything except for the panelled library had already been painted, https://www.kipsbaydecoratorshowhouse.org/dallasgallery It's a remarkable effort during a pandemic, and for the very first Kips Bay show house in Dallas. I do think there may have been the idea of going over the top with the rooms to help draw attention to the inaugural Dallas effort, and perhaps with the pandemic, the idea of providing an extra sensory treat for viewers. It's terrific that they're selling virtual tours ($20 each) as well because of the pandemic, to offset the smaller number able or willing to tour in person.

Sorry to hear about your experience. Mine is/was similar. I found several layers of wallpaper, with a skim coat in between, and then under that, it seems to have been applied directly to drywall. I have removed a lot of wallpaper in the past, but I ended up damaging the drywall in one room so badly, we decided to hire someone. I had several contractors come through who looked at the amount of wallpaper and wouldn't do it! One guy was willing and he starts this morning so I will see what magic he uses. If he has any tips, I will share.

@Patricia Colwell, regarding the size of my light fixture, my table is 40x72” extending to 108”. the fixture is 16”x44”… by every guideline I found its within the parameters? It does provide plenty of light for the table and there are also the recessed lights there. regarding the window shades, they are top down-bottom up, usually we have the bottom half covered and top open, and coordinate with the adjacent space. I did work with a designer for these selections. the buffet cabinets are 30” tall on the 6” baseboard, we considered shorter cabinets but they looked very squat. i don’t plan or want to be opening and closing curtains at night, I dislike that look and I live in an urban area where the homes are very close together. not a fan of solar shades, they remind me of a restaurant. i do plan to add more color with art and other accents in the space- haven’t gotten there yet! @jck910 curtains have been rehung with rings so they are not touching ceiling now. i haven’t picked any mirror yet, just brainstorming ideas. i agree something vertical or perhaps a large round mirror…. not tackling that decision yet. i truly appreciate all of your inputs! my husband is no help at all.

While it's attractive paper, it has no relationship with the rest of your colors or accessories. I suggest you pass on that one.

Your furniture reads cottage rustic , antiquey, so I can't see this wallpaper fitting in.

Why are you not putting sconces on the wall where the wiring is, then a nice big mirror in between ? I seem to remember you trying to put pictures on the holes
but I can't recall why you were not putting lights there.

Hmm, something with my camera (I know my Thornton Sage and Antique Jade walls always look blue when I post). But shades are Linen scroll and drapes are Seafoam Morrocan Tile from JCP (with linen/bronze detail that matches the shades). So I thought green wallpaper would go if pattern wasn't too busy or greens weren't close. Guess they're not close.

The DR furniture is French Country in oak.

I am still trying to find pictures to hide the dumb holes, don't want to hang sconces back up since we found when moved table in centered under chandy that one sconce is almost a foot off center.

Paper is on eBay, made by Norwall. Since I shouldn't buy it, here is the link for you. Good luck bidding.
