I got on the 2 review sites noted above last night and was immediately overwhelmed. I'm glad for the recommendations here because they give me a starting point, although some of the models have already been revised/replaced. I have discovered that cameras aren't like KitchenAid Stand Mixers. There seems to be radical changes in design, features and prices from year to year. I tried to complete a form where you enter desired features. Most of the terms are not at all familiar to me. I've heard of them, but have no idea if they're something I need or want. I feel like annie1992. I don't have the patience (or interest) to delve in so deeply - at least at this stage. Funny, I am patient and inquisitive about learning many things, but tech talk turns me off. Maybe as I learn more about photography, by just taking pictures, my interest will grow. I'm not sure which one allowed you to select and compare colors. However, this is absolutely the very best one: http://www.easyrgb.com/new/en/similar/ I know how they measure color and it's a quality process. EasyRGB has an older site to, easyrgb.com, it does the same things just with a different user interface. The new site was designed to be easier to use and it is, IMO. DO NOT use encycolorpedia. There isn't a single pixel of info on that site that anyone should be using - for anything EVER! colorcharts.org is indeed gone. I know the creators of colorcharts.org and the virtual paint program CBN, color by numbers, software. By providing colorcharts for free, they assumed people would then by the CBN program. And that didn't happen. People just used colorcharts without buying so they took it down. Even if you buy the CBN program, you don't get access to the colorcharts data base. Which is unfortunate because they too offered quality data. I do recommend the Paint Pro app. Again, I know where their data came from and I know it's good. The paint manufacturer apps have a single, specific purpose. They are not color tools in any way shape or form. Their function is marketing and intended to get you into a store where they can sell you something. I believe every single one has a "helpful map" within the app so you can find the nearest store. Handy, right? ;) One reason (there are several) why they are not color tools, is because some of them - not necessarily all of them - use the same sRGB values from their websites for their app swatches. sRGB is a very small color space and accommodates digital, online color reproduction. It is not applicable to our analog, in real life world. In other words, sRGB value is perfect for making color swatches for apps and websites, but that's all it's good for. So even if the paint manufacturer apps offered a function to compare colors to other brands, you have to ask what was the app comparing? sRGB values? Which would be totally useless. I was in the SW store the other day and a mom and her daughter were sitting at the design table with an iPad and a tablet of paper. They had listed all the paint colors they were considering and were looking up the RGB values for each one the SW website. They were convinced that by looking at the RGB values for each paint color, they would be able to determine "undertones" for the colors. As most of you already know, I think the whole "undertones" thing is ridiculous. Undertones are totally subjective and not a measurable color attribute. There are only three key color attributes, hue, value, and chroma. Those women had been sitting at that table for over an hour writing down RGB values and chasing down imaginary undertones - a sad waste of time. I did mention to them that there was a better way to go about it and why. But when people believe something about color, it's hard to change their minds. You can have all the science, facts and data the universe has to offer and it won't help. Which is why people still go to the encycolorpedia website to look at crap color information written in color space values they don't understand how to read. Which is why people still believe they can look at digital color swatches online and see true, analog color characteristics. Which is why people keep believing undertones are a real thing and not purely subjective. i.e. remember #thedress from a few weeks back. All I can do is keep preaching the facts. Some people listen. Some people don't. {shrug}

well..neutrals can be deeper too. neutral doesn't mean "light"..it just means a color that will most likely be a background that most people would find natural to be a background color. Even though a lot of colors can be easily considered neutrals, since they're so prevalent in nature...say some blues or greens..If it's something you see a lot outside, and I mean a lot-don't worry you'll perceive it as neutral. If beige is neutral-then brown is a neutral too..technically it's a much darker beige, as far as i understand..or should I say-beige is much much lighter brown lol they all are colors. and some neutrals are very capricious actually. take white for example-it is a perfect background but it needs light to become perfect background..and it will accentuate a lot of things. which you sometimes want to accentuate, if you have great architecture for example..and sometimes you don't. if you have a dark bland small room-white won't do it any favors. of course one should remember there are many whites..) in short, no, deeper colors won't necessarily make a place small. they won't make it big either lol. they can make it livelier though..cozier. you usually don't want to go really dark in a big space, not because it will make it smaller, but because it might change your feel..too much dark might feel oppressing. but just a tad deeper color and real dark color are two different things. you know what you're ready to commit to..took me some years to go more colorful, and I do prefer muted colors so it still reads pretty soft. neutrals can be as deep and amazing as anything else..when you'll start getting samples, trying them in your unique space and light- you'll see what you are comfortable with. and what makes the given room lovelier to you. just don't believe the names paint companies give-these are very deceiving..:) if you're looking for a color, especially a neutral one-just look everywhere. looking for gray? great. check the whites too:) etcetera blue sectional sounds very cool. colorful furniture usually works well with neutrals allover the range. and colors too lol. put it in a gray room-it will work. or in a beige room-and it will work. or in a white room-still will work. or take a "real" color-still will work, in most of cases. i don't find your paneling that horrible btw-but maybe it's because i don't see it up close. quality of wood matters a lot of course. sorry for the ramblings..i get like that sometimes lol

Consider this. It gives all those sleeping in the bedrooms a short private path to the bathroom, gives the mechanical room a more efficient location, and the office worker can practice shooting the deer at the end of the office. That's exactly what I was suggesting for the bedrooms. I also like the suggestion of bringing the mechanicals "forward" ... they'll provide an acoustical barrier for the office. Not sure about the office being so loooong and narrow though. I'm seeing now that the upper left bedroom was never for guests ... just wasn't clear earlier. And do not let base cabinets in a laundry room turn a corner. Agree. Lazy Susans or Super Susans are worthwhile in a kitchen, but they're rather expensive -- and I don't see the laundry as a place to splurge. But washing out afterbirth from the calf you just helped deliver can only be done in a washer, and hopefully not the washer where you wash your “church clothes”. :) Okay, in all fairness, we don't have animals on our farm. I mean, other than dogs and sometimes chickens. the island is about a step too far away to serve this purpose. All pathways in the kitchen are 48”. Any closer would feel tight for working space. Mark - Hopefully the person that sleeps in the east bedroom wears pajamas when they have to parade through the family room to get to the bathroom. My thinking originally was that if light is at a premium, a kid's bedroom with windows on 2 walls is preferable, and the family room is mainly used for watching TV, which is always better in a slightly darker (but not pitch black) room. I was looking at the garage, … This “2-car” garage will be for one car, chest freezers, and some storage (trash cans, snow shovel, etc). We also have a large shop on-site for storing the work trucks, tractors, 4 wheelers, bikes, yard tools, etc. Do you bulk-shop? We do, and I also can / freeze most of our food.
