We got our granite slabs! (pic)

Very excited to report we were able to get "the one" (i.e. Typhoon Bordeaux). Here is a link to a picture of our slab (one of three). I just want to pet it but unfortunately the fabricator will have it for the next couple of months until we are ready for it.

LOL I so know how you feel dear...I took a 2 year old. Nothing like trying to look at granite while chasing him so he won't get under the big slabs...they might look steady standing up there in the yard...but it just doesn't feel good to have the baby under them! I only made it to one granite yard (ok that's all we have LOL) but thank god! 7 hours of granite and the baby....e gads! I hope you drink! :oP It's very pretty. I'm partial to the golds :) I do have granite in your "colors" with lots of movement called Vulcan Gold...but I never see it anywhere! I've had the slabs on hold for two years LOL

Thanks hollysprings. I did spend months trying to find a slab that worked for me, not too loud, more linear than swirly. I'm thinking of sending it to another fabricator to get it re-honed. I know nothing about granite, but that said, the scratches look superficial to me. Why are you recommending new slab? Does re-honing not repair superficial scratches? Thanks again.

this is one of the granites i looked at in my 5 month hunt :) and i have a very similar kitchen color to you...white cabs, wood floor....which makes it difficult because EVERYTHING will match and look nice with white cabs and wood floor. i will say i felt this granite would look very rich with the color combo we have. if you are wanting two different surfaces, i am in the wood island - granite perimeters boat (as thats what we just did in our kitchen).

We love typhoon bordeaux and are looking for a yard that has some pretty ones. Would love to see yours!

I don't have a Kodak account, but there should be a way to edit your personal preferences on the Kodak site to "share" your album. (Make sure it's just the one album and not all of your others.)

Yes, I would really like to see any pictures. (You can click on My Page and that will take you to the "Send me an email") link. I'm going out this week to look again, so it would be great to see your granite before.

Trying a new method with the picture, hope it works this time.

Peytonroad - We ended up getting it from Marble Systems in Fairfax (which is a distributor, not a fabricator). The fabricator we'll be using is Pyramid. I seem to recall seeing a crema bordeaux there (but not 100% sure). They have a nice selection.

Thanks, everyone! I will certainly share pictures of the completed kitchen (along with other parts of the new house). Our house will be finished in September, so it will be a little while until I have photos.
