I received a GBBC newsletter this morning and they state that so far: The numbers tell the story. With its new global reach, the 16th annual Great Backyard Bird Count becomes the largest worldwide bird count ever! As of today: 4 Days 103 Countries 120,000+ Checklists 3,144 Species 25.6+ Million birds That species total represents nearly one-third of the bird species in the entire world. Bird watchers in the U.S. and Canada set new national records for tallies submitted. Reports have come in from as far away as Antarctica and Afghanistan. So far, 30 states and 3 provinces have set new records for checklist entries. Here are the top ten countries by checklists submitted so far: United States 107,538 Canada 10,970 India 391 Mexico 263 Australia 143 United Kingdom 84 Peru 83 Puerto Rico 79 Iceland 78 Portugal 72 and they show a picture of a Japanese Green Woodpecker that is beautiful! Highlights for me were seeing the Green-winged Teal again at the Ellisville Harbor State Park and a huge raft of Common Eider in the Cape Cod Canal. It took me four days of counting before the turkeys decided to show up but I did manage to get them in (not that they're rare here but it wouldn't be a count without them). Claire

also they will give that warning when there is a known problem with the latest version of a program that has not yet been updated or patched, that may well be the case here. They know there is an issue with the latest version but there is not yet a new patched one out yet so they still let you know that what you have currently can be a security risk. In those cases some people would choose to uninstall and wait others will just stay with what they have till the patched version is released.

No Bumble, I don't think that's better. Comparing victims who have been starved and tortured or who are too poor to eat is not a good example, in my opinion. With regard to a person who is not being held in a concentration camp or is starving because there is no food because of poverty, I do believe many people have conditions that make it very, very difficult to lose weight, even if they eat 1000 calories a day. I weigh about 112 and can eat 3000 calories (less about 600 calories burned off through exercise) and not gain an ounce. However, someone else could consume the same amount of calories and work out and gain weight. We are all different. I need to edit this post because I did not address your comment that being healthy, not being thin, should be our goal. I agree 100% with that. I have a similar problem w/ listening to radio & podcasts. Some productions have the 'background' music so loud, it's difficult to make out the voiceovers. As maddielee & Atomic Jay say, you can adjust the sound levels on most, if not all TVs. The 1 thing you cannot do, seemingly, is get all the different channels @ the same volume levels @ the same time, & ditto for commercials. I suspect this is because some advertisers cheat on their volume, since regulations only dictate the highest level, not the lowest. Hubby is the big watcher in our house & it's a problem late @ night when he switches from 1 channel to a new 1 & the volume suddenly jumps & wakes me up ( he's in the living room, BTW). Slightly off-topic, but the most recent prob I have is all the electronic noises (phones, etc.) in TV shows & movies, so loud I'm hearing them in another room & they prompt me to check my phone or alarm. I know my hearing is faltering w/ age; I often cannot make out exactly what people are saying. I like the captioning feature on TVs too - really helps!
